I wanted to say,Oh, yeah? You mean when we left off with me practically in a coma? So how were we getting married then? With me in stitches and a cast.Instead, I skipped his fantasy crap and asked, “Where is Belle?”

He gripped the steering wheel with tight fingers. “She’s here,” he said through gritted teeth as he pulled up to a metal building. The large door there rolled up and he drove inside. Darkness enveloped us again.

I now got a bad feeling. I never thought it would get worse than being captured by Wade after I sent him to prison. But I did feel much worse. All of this was far too elaborate for dim ole Wade to have come up with on his own.

A jolt rattled the car as it hit the bottom of wherever we had gone.

I looked around at an underground room to see many men. The hell?

“You will see Belle real soon,” Wade said. “Then we can get our lives on track again.” He smiled at me. “In fact, there she is.” He pointed.

With a gasp, I turned my head to look over to where he pointed…I blinked at what I saw.

Belle stood alongside a well dressed man as she held his hand. She smiled at me and let go of his hand to run over to the car. Yanking the door open, she grabbed me up. “Scarlet! Oh wow, you're safe!”

I held her. I felt so relieved to see her unharmed. Looking over her shoulder, I stared at the man I knew to be Deacon. I recognized him of course as I’d seen him a few times at the Cotton Candy Club. My heart was racing, as fear now possessed me. It was one thing to face an evil you know, but facing a man that was said to be ruthless, underhanded and deadly was a whole different evil.

Pulling back, Belle frowned at my split lip. She narrowed her eyes then glared at Wade. “How did she get hurt?”

“In the scuffle,” he lied. “When I got her into the car.”

I looked from his lying face to her troubled expression. “Belle, are you okay? Did they hurt you?”

“No, why would they hurt me?” She looked confused.

I stepped back and explained, “You were kidnapped and I had to get money from the bank to exchange for you. It was because of dad’s drug debt.”

She shook her head. “No, this was a plan we had to come up with to get you away from those people.”

“Those people?” I asked in utter confusion.

“Yes, they took you from town. You were being held prisoner.”

I stared at her. “So, you are here on your own free will?”

“Well, sure.” She motioned to Deacon. “Your boss told me all about what happened.”

I looked over at him. “Oh, did he?” I glared at the man.

Walking over, he smiled. “The plan worked.” A gleam showed in his eyes.

“For you maybe!” I shouted as I pushed Belle behind me.

“Scarlet, what are you doing?” Belle tried to get around me. “This man is an undercover FBI agent. He’s here to stop all the crimes that the Walkers are responsible for.”

I slowly shook my head as I realized what he had done. He fooled my sister then fooled me. Flipping around, I gripped Belle’s arms and looked into her wide eyes as I said, “This man is pure evil. He worked for the FBI, yes. But he also worked for O, and she was the one who created the crime. He is the one destroying Ramton, Belle!”

Shaking her head, she said, “No, no. You are wrong.”

“Am I?” I asked her. “Just think about it…if they were holding me against my will, why am I here now?”

She shrugged. “Deacon said you would find a way to escape to help me and he was right.”

I scoffed. “Well, that’s convenient, he had faith in me to be able to escape? And why is Wade in this with him? You know what he did to me, Belle.”

She nodded. “I have to admit, I didn’t like it when Deacon brought him in. But he has been rehabilitated, that is why he is out of prison so early. I wanted you to be safe, so…I just had to accept him as part of it.”

“Belle…” I sighed. “We are in big trouble here. You have been lied to. This whole plan was a lie.” I turned and pointed at Deacon. “Everything he told you is a lie.”
