“Fuckers,” Justice muttered as he sat up with a grunt. “They save your life then start dictating terms.”

“Justice!” I gasped as I stared at him. “You shouldn’t be moving at all.”

“I feel fine,” he retorted in disgust. “But a damn wheelchair?”

“Let’s just get you in it, we have to go,” Ranger said.

“You got news?” Justice asked him.

“Yeah, but I’ll tell you when we get out of here.”

Justice nodded.

“Ranger,” I said. “Help me get him into—”

Justice swiftly stepped down and sat in the chair.

“Justice, you promised to be good!” I seethed at him.

“No, I didn't, I promised that, only if you are sitting on me.”

I gasped as my face flushed.

Ranger laughed as he turned the chair around and wheeled him out.

I followed as I knew the nurse had been right. I had my hands full. He intended to just power his way through this and to hell with medical precautions.

When we got outside to the truck, I saw that Justice was about to just get up from the chair on his own as he braced his hands on the armrests. So I moved around to the front of it and sat down on top of him.

“Hey now!” Justice exclaimed while looking astonished as my butt landed on his lap. “What the hell?”

Ranger laughed again. “I admit it’s an odd approach, but it might just work.”

I couldn’t think of any other way to get the man to listen, so I did the only thing I could think of. “You have to promise to let us help you, “I said as I looked over my shoulder at him. “At least for today, Justice.”

He chuckled. “I gotta hand it to you, woman. You just made an excellent counter move.”

“Whatever it takes,” I told him. “So, this is how it is gonna be. You let Ranger…” I looked around and saw Tank coming our way. “...and Tank, help you into the cab.”

Justice laughed. “Well, actually, I don’t want to get out of the chair now.”

“Damnit Justice, you need to—”

Leaning forward, he moved my hair from my neck and kissed my skin with his warm lips. “Ok, I will be a good boy,” he purred into my ear.

I shivered as my body went from cool to hot in just a few seconds. Then I realized we had an audience, so I bolted from the chair.

“Well, I see that you are recovering well, brother,” Liberty said with a smirk on his face as he and Belle walked up.

“I’m just peachy,” Justice replied. “Where have you two been?”

With a huge victorious grin, Liberty raised up a white paper bag as if it was a trophy. “It’s the motherlode. I got Donuts!”

Justice shook his head. “You have two gears, Lib. Hungry belly and sleep mode.”

“Yep, all true,” Liberty said. “But don’t forget badass mode. I mean that’s my best gear.”

Ranger shook his head. “Is he really like this all—?”
