I nodded. “We were at the ranch when that happened and it was gruesome.”

“S-so it’s true?” Belle asked.

I scoffed. “No, it isn’t. The woman was insane and when I say that I mean, take over the world, kill anyone you don’t like and blame everyone else, type of insane.”

“So how did she die?” Belle stared at me.

“Cinnamon was there and she told me about it,” Scarlet spoke up as she shook her head. “You see, Rip is her son. You know who Rip is, he runs that garage in town. O had taken Sofia, his girl and then led him on a wild goose chase to get her back. I mean who does that? To her own son? But from what Cinnamon told me, the Walkers hoped since she was his mom that maybe she would soften up and tell him where Glory was.”

“Glory?” Belle looked confused.

“My sister,” I said. “That’s the whole reason we are even here, Belle. I mean my dad, my brothers and I. We were living our lives peacefully over in Sugarland Texas. Then one day, Glory was gone because someone had snatched her. My dad got a call from the kidnappers, telling him to go to the Walker ranch here in Louisiana.”

“But why?” Belle asked

“Because we finally caught her,” Talon interjected. “So Deacon had instructions from her that if we ever did catch her, he would kidnap another Walker so a trade could be made.”

Belle raised her hands up to her mouth as she looked horrified.

“Now, you're getting it,” Liberty said as he nodded.

“Then he grabbed Prophet's dad later on,” I explained. “He belongs to our MC and he’s our dad’s brother-in-law. Deacon wanted Jewel traded to him for Prophet’s father.”

Belle looked a bit shell shocked as she kept shaking her head.

“But back to O’s death,” I continued this odd but sad tale. “Rip sort of had a meltdown when he had to talk to her. I admit none of us should have…” I sighed. “...pushed him to that. We needed her to tell us where the meet even was. When he went in to talk to her… He simply lost it. See, all along, he never knew that this O was his very own mother. The things she did to the Walkers over the years were nightmarish. She killed his dad and left town because she only married his dad out of spite or something? She was in love with his brother and she never got over it when Bea, her sister, married him. Supposedly, she thought the man belonged to her and not Bea. Then years later, she came back and killed him too when he refused to run away with her.”

Belle shook her head as she looked a bit lost.

“Yeah, it’s like a Shakespearean play turned into a severely twisted reality show,” Liberty added. “In fact, she even went by the name Ophelia. Like Justice said, she was double bat shit crazy.”

“Rip confronted her with what all she had done,” I went on to explain. “Telling her how he’d suffered too. She killed his dad when he was just a little kid, then she murdered his unclewho had raised him like a son. He put it all out there, all the shit she had done and while she said she had done it all for love, he showed her that she had done it all for herself and her own jealousy.” I shook my head. “He held out a knife while saying, ‘So, why not kill me now? You killed everyone else you were supposed to have loved.’ Instead, she killed herself, because in the end, she finally was sorry about most of it. I think?”

“Who knows if she was sorry?” Liberty said. “She was ten kinds of crazy.”

“And she raised Deacon,” I added. “Trained him and instructed him from what we know. So that man is not playing with a full deck either.”

Belle looked remorseful as she stared down at her hands.

“Look at it this way,” Liberty said. “He fooled the FBI, the CIA, the prison system, the government and many others. So you aren’t alone in that club.”

She raised her head as she looked surprised at his empathy.

I shook my head. That was Liberty for you. The minute you thought you had him pegged, he would turn it around and surprise you.

“So what about his sister then?” Belle asked.

We all stared at her in a stunned silence.

Talon stood from his chair. “What do you mean…his sister?”

“I-I met her. She seemed so nice. I mean actually, she was the reason I believed him. She just seemed so genuine.”

Talon looked from her to me and Scarlet.

“Jewel said there was a woman with Deacon,” Scarlet reminded us.

“She's the one that told me about…” Belle paused. “How you all murdered her mother and she cried, saying you were cold blooded killers. That was what finally convinced me to help Deacon get my sister free. Her story and her grief.”
