“To where?” Liberty asked.

“The quarry,” he replied as he got back onto his bike. “It’s probably a better area for them to hide anyway. We need to approach it carefully. My gut tells me that is where he will be hiding.”

“This Wade you mean?” I asked.

“Deacon,” he said.

“So what about this Wade douchebag?” I asked as I rode behind him.

“He doesn’t matter,” Talon replied. “Wade Stephens is not connected enough or smart enough to have pulled this off himself.”

To me, he did matter because he had Scarlet. I didn’t know this Wade and I really didn’t know my cousin Deacon, but I had to agree as Deacon did get him out of prison. The question was…why did he free Wade to do this con job on Scarlet?

We now rode into an area that had sheer cliffs and I could see the quarry below. It had now been over forty minutes since Scarlet disappeared. Forty minutes too long.

“There have been tracks all along this road,” Talon said over the comm. “More traffic than it should have. Deacon never goes anywhere alone, so he might…” Talon paused. “Everyone stop!”

I heard him but I didn’t care.

“He travels with a small army, Justice!” Talon called me over the comm. “This could all be a well laid trap.”

“Brother, pull up!” Liberty came over the comm.

I shook my head and pulled the bike to a stop. “So what? We just sit here? When Wade could be hurting Scarlet?” I asked in disgust.

“There’s air traffic,” Logan came over. “Take cover!”

“Ride back down to the tree stand,” Talon said over the comm. “We will be under attack.”

I turned my bike around as did Liberty. I’d heard about the copter that tried to shoot Prophet down, so even as bad as I wanted to go in and tear that quarry building apart, I knew we’d better take cover. We rode back along the road we just came inon as fast as we could ride. I was mad as hell. No rescue. Instead, we were running from where she was being held.

“Guys, grab your AK’s and any long range guns you have,” Talon ordered.

Two helicopters did fly over as we just got to the stand and parked under the trees. The men did have machine guns and rifles and they aimed them upwards. Talon did have a freaking army at his disposal. Yet, no bullets came at us as the copters kept going.

“So what now?” I asked.

“Just a minute,” Talon replied. “Ace, where did those copters come from?”

“Out of the blue, Talon. They just appeared on the SAT.”

“Shit, he just got away,” I yelled. “And he took the girls with him.” I lowered my head.

“Engine coming,” Dagger said over the comm. “Came right out of the old steel building.”

Raising my head, I started my bike and ripped out onto the road.

I heard them all calling to me over the comm. I didn’t care, I had to go. Just as I got to the rise above the quarry, a car appeared. The Camaro! I raised my head and rode right toward it.

It had been speeding along the road then it swerved and flipped around to a stop.

Grabbing my weapon from my back pocket, I steered with one hand. Then I pulled to a stop and hopped off the bike. Aiming my gun straight on, I headed toward the car.

When the driver’s door popped open, I held my breath and cocked the gun.

“Justice!” Scarlet yelled as she rushed over to me.

Bikes rolled in and surrounded the car.
