I followed her around it. It was just an office area with a PC and desk. I sat in the desk chair, then pulled my shirt off.
Stepping close, she said, “Pardon this, ok?”
I nodded.
Gently pushing her fingers down into my lace cup, she pulled it forward then taped the small metal piece no bigger than a quarter into the lining. Stepping back, she grabbed my shirt to hand it to me. “There, you are all set.”
“Well, that was painless,” I joked.
“It’s not heart surgery,” she joked back, then she looked serious. “Listen, this won’t be like anything you have probably faced before. Just try to stay calm when all you want to do is panic. Only use that knife if you really have to and even then, doit quick and only when the man is close enough that you hit your mark. Or else, he will take it away from you.”
I let out a breath. “Good advice.”
“And if you use it, do some real damage, so youcanget away,” she stated in a hard voice. “Just know that if it has gone wrong enough for you to have to use it, then make it count. Cause if they catch you…” She shook her head. “You don’t want to be at any man’s violent mercy. Don’t let that happen, Scarlet. Ever.”
I stared at her as her words sunk in.
She stared back at me and shrugged her shoulders. “I don’t mean to scare you even more, honestly. But you have to be hard and cold. That may be the only way you can get yourself and your sister out of this.”
“No, I get it. I just hope I can do this right.”
“You don’t know what’s coming though,” Liv said. “So just try not to panic or to allow shock to slow you down. If you get the chance, grab her hand and run. The Rebel Saints will be on the inner layers of the street and the buildings there, so you will be running to freedom.”
“But won’t I be leaving Justice and Liberty if I do that?”
“Yes, but they can protect themselves better if you two are in the clear, Scarlet.”
“Yeah, that does make sense.” I nodded.
“So, if you see the chance, take it. Just run and keep on running. The Rebels will see you and protect you. Now, I cannot predict the scenario, but if that one presents itself, run.”
I stood from the chair and shook her hand. “Thank you.”
Shaking my hand, she said, “I hope to see you this afternoon.”
“I hope so too.”
We both walked over to the car area.
Talon seemed to have been waiting for us as he now looked around. “The plan is...” He looked over at Justice and Liberty. “You two stay absolutely hidden until you just have to get out of that trunk. We don’t want you shot for jumping the gun on this.” He turned to look at me. “When you talk to this scumbag, call me as soon as you know where the meet is. Use this phone and then keep it in your pocket, in case you need to call me for anything.” He handed a cell phone to me. “We and the Rebel Saints will be in the background. So if you can, take your sister’s hand and run as soon as you see the chance to do it.”
I nodded. “Liv gave me some advice to do that very thing.”
“It would be the best thing to do, if you see any opening,” Logan said. “If you have a weapon directed at you, don’t try it. But yes, if you and her are out of the picture, we all can come down on them.”
“You stay hidden while at her mom’s,” Talon stated as he stared at Liberty and Justice. “I already have men on the lookout there. We don’t know if they will try to surprise us and take Scarlet there.”
“That never occurred to me. Oh, wow. I mean...” I shook my head.
“Yes, expect anything,” Liv said. “On the road, at the bank...” She nodded her head. “Is it the Union Bank on Fifth?”
I nodded.
Liv looked over at Logan and said, “Have men there.”
He nodded and went over to his laptop.
“So if you do make it all the way to the exchange point,” Talon went on. “We will be there hiding. If you hear a loud whistle, drop down to the ground, take your sister down with you if she’s there.”
