“It’s just so sweet and heart-warming,” Scarlet spoke up.

Liberty stood from the table. “Well, I don’t have to listen to this bull. I’m gonna check on our ‘cheek to cheek’ trunk space.” He moved away and stalked out through the dining room door.

Scarlet smiled at me and said, “He hates it when things get real, doesn’t he?”

“He does,” I replied. “And I hate it when he’s right.”

With a chuckle, she stood from her chair. “You ready?”

I peered up at her as I grinned. “Are you kidding? I was born ready!”

Scarlet couldn’t seem to help it, she burst into laughter.

Chapter Ten:Just Run

Scarlet

When we entered the garage, we saw a flurry of activity. An older car that looked like a Buick maybe sat in the middle as men moved around it.

“Okay, it’s good!” Liberty called from somewhere.

I looked around as did Justice.

Suddenly, Liberty’s head popped up in the backseat of the Buick. “We will fit just fine, brother.”

Justice raised his brow and went over to look inside.

“It has a handle welded into the door, so we can open it onto the backseat.” Liberty pointed behind his body at the trunk. Getting out of the car, he stood. “No one will know we are even there.”

“You hope,” I said.

Liberty looked over at me. “Sometimes, that’s all you have. Hope and maybe the element of surprise.”

I didn’t reply. I had been cheerful all morning, because…I was in love, I guess? Now that I was here, looking at the vehicle, all the good feelings seemed to fade away.

Justice took my hand. “We will get through it, Scarlet.”

I released a sigh.

Talon and Liv came over.

“Are you all ready?” Liv asked.

“I need that knife,” I replied.

Nodding, she handed it over. “Come with me. You and Justice. We need to tag you.” Liv turned and walked to the tool shelves on the far wall.

We followed her.

Logan stood there and he gave us a smile. “Have a seat Justice and we can get this done in less than a minute.”

Justice sat down on one of the folding chairs.

Logan stepped back and stared at Justice. “The best spot would be somewhere, under your shirt.” He nodded. “I’ll get the tape.” He turned to grab a roll.

I looked over at Liv. “Where should mine be?”

“Preferably, taped inside your bra. Where it won’t be moved around too much. So come on, let’s step over there.” She motioned to an area where they had a wall up.
