“Then let’s do that,” I said. “I saw what poor Prophet went through, I’m not doing that. I stay with her.”
They all shook their heads.
“We will have our welders working on it,” Talon replied. “What time do you need to leave?”
“I’m supposed to be at my mom’s at noon for the call,” Scarlet said.
“Ok, so you get here at about eight, so we can tag you,” Liv said then she looked at me. “You’re getting tagged too.”
I opened my mouth to argue.
Raising her hand, she said, “No arguments, we are cutting up a freakin’ car for your ass, when we don’t even like the idea of you being in this too close.”
Redemption spoke up for the first time, “Brother, Dad will have our asses in a sling if this goes sideways. So shut up and deal.”
Talon nodded and went on with the instructions, “Scarlet and you will then leave at about 9 AM, get to town, go to the bank and it gives you time to get over to her mom’s place.”
We both nodded and I took Scarlet’s hand. “Anything else?”
“You got a weapon?” Talon asked.
I nodded. “Two and a boot knife.”
“Ok, then you will be set.” Talon looked uneasy. “Don’t try to take on more than two of them, you hear me? We will be there at the exchange point before you even arrive.” He looked over at Scarlet. “We need to know ASAP where the meet will be. Don’t worry, no one will see us. We can blend in.”
Scarlet gave him a nod then asked, “Should I have a weapon?”
“Do you know how to use one?” Liv asked her.
“I’m good with a knife, but I don’t have it anymore.”
“In the morning, I’ll bring one for you,” Liv told her.
“Thanks,” Scarlet said, then she looked around at everyone there. “Thank you all for helping me.”
“This is about family, Scarlet,” Redemption said. “Of course, we would.”
She tilted her head at him as she looked puzzled by his remark. “But I’m not family.”
Redemption chuckled and motioned his head at our joined hands. “Looks like you are whether you realize it or not.”
Looking a bit stunned, she gave no reply.
I agreed, “He’s right, you are part of our family.” I smiled at her.
“So, what about me?” Liberty asked.
I glanced up at him. “Geez, Lib. You have always been a Walker, so why worry?”
He scoffed. “Ha-fucking-ha. I mean, what part will I play in this?”
“Part?” Talon asked.
“Well yeah,” he said. “I mean it was gonna be us three going into town, remember?”
“Trail with us,” Redemption suggested.
“No, do you have a vehicle large enough for two men in a trunk?” Liberty looked over at Talon.
