“You were just a tad too slow, I guess?” Justice teased him.

Liberty snorted. “Not that I’ma big dumb boxercrap again.”

Justice laughed as he held my hand and we went around his brother.

“So what if you had eight years of formal schooling?” Liberty defended as he followed us. “Doesn’t make you any smarter than me.”

Justice just kept grinning as he seemed to enjoy ribbing his brother about this subject. “It’s smarter thanI,Liberty. Not me.”

“Oh, shut yer rap, Harvard boy,” he grumbled as he followed us inside. “Did I ask you for a grammar lesson? No, I didn’t.”

I even smiled at this, they were so funny. But in reality, Justice was almost as large and just as fit as Liberty was. So, my man had the brains and the brawn. But I wouldn’t hurt Liberty’s feelings by pointing this fact out.

“They all went over to that huge garage they use as the War Room here to have their nightly meeting about security and any other issues,” Liberty told us. “I’m only telling you this in case you don’talreadyknow, being such a freakin’ genius and all.”

“Can we get past this subject, Lib?” Justice asked.

“No, we can’t. You have been teasing me about this since I was five.”

“Five?” I asked as we went through the house toward the front entrance.

“Yeah,” Liberty replied. “I’d been so proud in kindergarten when I aced the ABC's and Mr. Brainy here had pointed out that he’d done that at three years old! Then when I was in high school anytime I got an A, he would show me all the straight A’s he had made. I mean who saves all their report cards for Pete’s sake?”

“Oh, come on,” Justice said as we exited the front door. “I did not do that.” He laughed, giving away the fact that he more than likely did do it.

“Huh-huh, sure you didn’t,” Liberty said.

We came to the brightly lit garage. It was a huge structure, so I could see why they used it for large meetings. When we went inside, there were at least thirty men there, maybe forty. I slowed my walk and stopped. Turning to Justice, I whispered, “I don’t want all of these people to know.”

“I understand that,” Justice replied. “We will wait until my brother and Talon can talk to us.”

We stayed toward the back and listened.

“There have been no sightings of Deacon anywhere in Ramton,” Talon stated to the men. “We send out patrols to town daily and to the farm areas too. So he may not even be in this area anymore.”

I had different thoughts. Justice and Liberty did too. We felt like he was. Unless he had someone else handling this kidnapping? It was a possibility.

“We have also not seen anyone come near Connor Bridge since we arrived. But this doesn’t mean he doesn’t know we are here.”

I froze. Didn’t he threaten to blow up the ranch?

“Our drones haven’t detected any activity above us at all, along with the satellite images Ace gets.”

Ok...I felt a little better about this now. They were looking out for anything coming from above us.

“Just the same, we still patrol all areas five miles out east, west, north and south,” Talon went on. “Some of you are wondering how long we have to keep vigilant and I can understand this. At least twenty of you have been gone from your homes for almost three months now. And I am sorry about that. So, Bones and Keys are going to see about getting replacements to change places with some of the Rebel Saints who have been away for the longest.”

There were grumblings from around the room as if the men did not want to be replaced.

“Hey now,” Talon said as he raised his hands up. “I'm grateful as all hell that you have come to our aid when we needed you the most. I also know you have been in this war right by our sides since the start and you don’t want to leave until Deacon and O’s minions are all dead, but you cannot be expected to be away from your family and lives for so damned long. So, if it has caused hardship on you or your families, we get it.” He looked around. “Does anyone have any questions or issues to report?”

No one said anything.

“Ok, meeting tomorrow night. Same time, same channel.” Talon gave them all a nod.

The men went out and it took several minutes for the garage to clear as there were so many of them.

Talon looked over at us and raised a brow.
