He shook his head. “No, I pulled them out.”

“So what’s the plan here?” I asked.

Liv turned and looked at me. “How about we play a little game?’

I glared at her. “My dad is in jeopardy here. I’m not in the fucking mood for games.”

Jewel grasped my arm. “I will go for the trade if we have to do that.”

“The fuck you will!” I exclaimed. “For one thing, even if I agreed, which I never would...My dad would never forgive me for it.”

“Listen to me before you lose your shit,” Liv said.

I again looked over at her.

“You want us to act like we don’t know,” Logan spoke up as he stared at Liv.

She pointed at him. “Yeah see, he gets it.”

“Gets what?” I sighed in frustration.

“We come up with a con,” Talon said as he nodded at Liv.

“What?” Redemption asked. “A con?”

“Yeah man, like we fool him for once,” Logan said.

“How is that going to help with getting my dad back?” I asked.

“If we act like we do not know he is watching everything and we work it right, it will lead us right to him,” Liv explained. “Look, I know this sucks. I understand, but we have to get the odds in our favor. I am sick of this douche-bag getting away.”

I shook my head. I felt the same way, but all I really cared about right now was my dad being free and safe.

“The thing is…” Liv kept her gaze on me. “We may have to use Jewel as bait.”

I sucked in a breath and stared back at her. “No way, if he grabs her...” I refused to even go there.

Still holding my arm, Jewel said, “I will do anything to help.”

Looking down at her, I shook my head. “It’s too dangerous. Many things could go wrong.”

“The worst would be...Them hurting your father, Prophet.” Jewel looked into my eyes. “Then I would feel horrible. I can’t live with that kind of guilt.”

I grabbed her up and whispered close to her face, “And if he hurt you, how would I feel? No, Jewel, you can’t do it.”

She leaned in and brushed her lips over mine as she whispered, “I’m sorry but you can’t stop me. You need to trust your family here.” She backed up a bit and said, “They have been fighting this war for a long time. We need to trust them.”

“I won’t lose you,” I stated quietly.

“And I won’t let you lose your dad, Prophet.” She stepped back and looked over at the group. “Do whatever you can and I will help all I can.”

I felt such turmoil inside. I never had to deal with this kind of anger before. I wanted to kill this fucker. I had felt that same urge to kill him when he took Glory but this? It hit me even harder. After my mom died, my dad became both parents. I could see how it almost destroyed him when she passed but he stepped up and forward for my sake. I needed to do the same. Looking over at Redemption, our gazes locked. He had been my best friend while growing up and he was now my president. I could not choose between Jewel and my father. This was about that and I had no idea what to do.

The barn had gone silent as they all waited on me to tell them they could use my woman to lure in a psychopath.

“I hope this works,” I said as I gazed around at all of them. “Because if it doesn’t, I might lose both Jewel and my dad. You all had better know that if that happens…” I motioned over to the cage where they kept O. “You will have to put me in there.”

“Man, you can’t say things like that.” Redemption pushed his fingers through his hair in frustration and turned to look at me. “So do you agree?”
