I turned my head and glared at him.
He was smiling at me. “He’ll be okay.”
I scoffed at his assurance. My man was bleeding and no one seemed to care? I spoke into the mic,“Someone take care of him now! Or I will be screaming!”
We could see a few men moving toward him. One of them stepped forward and checked his arm as I almost bit a hole in my lip. Then not a minute later, Redemption fell to the dirt. I screamed at them through the mic,“No! You dumb fucks, help him!”
On the screen men nearly slapped the earpieces out of their ears as some rushed over.
I was fuming. “T-they just stood there,” I hissed out. “While he was bleeding to death!”
Jarret stepped over to me and grabbed the mic from my hand. “He lost some blood and was running on pure adrenaline. So when the adrenaline ran down, he passed out.”
I dove right into panic as I stared at the screen where he had been. “What’s happening, Logan?”
He shrugged and said, “They loaded him up with his sister and are heading this way.”
“How far?” I asked.
“It’s just a few miles.”
Turning, I ran out and down the hall. I made it out the door and was running full on for the gate.
“Cinnamon!” Jarret called from somewhere behind me.
Fuck him and all those GI Joe assholes.Redemption could be…I refused to think it. I got to the gate and glared up at the guard. “Open it now!”
He stared at me in confusion. “We got orders to—”
“Fuck your orders! You got new ones. Open the gate or I am gonna scratch your eyes out!”
The guard slowly shook his head.
“Open them for her,” Jarret ordered as he came up.
The guard looked from me to him.
“You’d better be doing it!” I yelled. “Right the fuck now!”
The guard shook his head and hit the button.
I could barely wait for the gate to open as I squeezed through the small slit of an opening.
“Cinnamon!” Jarret yelled again. “Can’t you wait for a damned minute?”
“NO!” I yelled back at him over my shoulder while sprinting down the long driveway. I ran until my side got a stitch in it. I ignored it and kept moving until I saw an SUV barreling down the road toward me with dust flying behind it. I waved my arms at it.
The vehicle had been traveling fast and it didn’t stop as I tossed my body to the side and it barely missed me. It then put on the brakes and skidded sideways. Next, it moved in reverse until it came up right beside me. The door flew open and I saw Liv. She smiled brightly at me and said, “Get in!”
I hopped in out of breath and coughing road dust. Looking over, I saw Redemption slumped in the seat. I literally crawled over Liv and grabbed him up. “Redemption?”
“He’s still passed out, but his pulse is good.”
I looked over at Liv when she said this and realized it wasn’t her as her voice sounded different. This was Glory. I nodded and embraced him as I whispered, “You’re gonna be okay, babe,” I told him in a breathless voice as I checked his shoulder. “It’s still bleeding!” I reached down and pulled up the shirt I was wearing, Redemption's shirt. Then I used my teeth to tear a hole in it like I was some insane, wild animal. Finally, I tore a long piece off. I grunted as I had to move him and he was heavy, then I wrapped it around his shoulder tightly and tied it off.
Groaning, Redemption mumbled, “That hurts.”
I gasped at hearing his voice and said, “Damn right it does! You got yourself shot.”
