The man called Redemption was yelling at Hawk, one of the Walker men, “You have her here?”

I stopped in my tracks and stared at this man, they called Redemption. Up close, he had to be the best looking male I had ever seen. I’d seen many men before in my life, unfortunately. But this man just made me catch my breath. Tall and he looked like the rest of the Walker men in some ways, but to me, he stood out from the rest of them.

“Fuck yeah, we have her and she is not going anywhere!” Hawk yelled back.

“Ok, let’s all calm down,” Talon said as he raised his hands.

Jarret shook his head. “Look, someone snatched my daughter, Glory,” he explained to the group, “We didn’t know what happened to her for days, then we got the ransom call. Some asshole telling me to go to Jacob’s ranch…” His voice slowed down. “...of all places. We are supposed to get this woman named O and exchange her for Glory.”

“No way will she go free!” Dagger shouted.

I had to agree with him, poor Dagger spent over 7 years in prison after O had framed him.

“She will not be let loose,” Hawk said. “No one will be safe if she’s out there.” Hawk knew this only too well, as O had his small son taken and they almost didn’t get him back.

The group all got louder as the Walkers argued with…The Walkers.

I watched as Redemption didn’t yell like the rest of them, instead, he went around the men arguing and headed into the barn.

Biting my lip, I walked around the back to the side door. One could say this was all none of my business, but they would be wrong. If O went free, I would never be safe. I slipped in and looked around. Then I caught sight of him. He was walking through and looking around. Finally, he headed my way.

I tried to hide behind a bale of hay, but I didn’t do it in time to not be seen.

Stopping at the haystack, he said, “Why are you hiding, little girl?”

I shivered a bit. Wow, his voice just made me feel sort of weak all over. I swallowed heavily and stepped out. “Why are you scoping the place?” I asked with a bravery I did not feel.

Looking me over, he furrowed his brow. “You a Walker too?”

I shook my head. “No.”

“So why are you here?” he snapped.

I decided I didn’t like his attitude. Maybe he was too good looking for his own good. “Why are you here?”

He scoffed. “None of your—”

“Same for me,” I cut him short. “It is none of your business and neither is snooping around.”

“What are you, a guard dog?” He smirked.

I crossed my arms over my chest. Yeah, good looking men were usually full of themselves.

He looked me up and down again then asked, “Do you know where they are keeping this O woman?”

I did but I had no intention of telling him.

He slowly shook his head. “Look…They have my little sister. The last I saw her…” He clenched his fists at his sides as his voice dropped. “Her face was bloody. This is a matter of life or death. My baby sister’s life. If we don’t exchange this O for her…” His green eyes glimmered with sadness. “We will never see Glory alive again.”

I dropped my arms from my chest and stared at him. He had changed in an instant from fierce to teasing to…scared? I didn’t know what to say to him. I sighed. “I’m sorry about that.”

“So can you tell me where O is?”

I nodded. “I could but it’s heavily guarded, so it won’t do you any good.”

“Let me be the judge of that,” he stated in a low voice.

“What are you judging now, Redemption?”
