“We’re going to have so much fun.” One last peck. One last pet. “Let’s go.”

This was going to be fabulous.

Chapter 13

Weston

I was boring.

I was boring.

I was boring.

Well, I was quiet but I was a bit worried I was too wide-eyed judging by the way the grumpy guy running the store seemed to be watching us. He either seemed to think we were going to steal shit or that I was going to pass out judging by the way he couldn’t stop frowning at us.

Thefollowing us around the storething was weird too.

I’d never looked sketchy enough to be followed in a store before, and unexpectedly, that set off the humiliation thing too. His creepiness was keeping it mostly in check, though. Cyrus, on the other hand, seemed to think the whole situation was hilarious.

We were going to have to agree to disagree on that part, but it wasn’t the time to argue about it since the guy was breathing down my neck.

Literally.

Okay.

My brain was starting to clear and I really didn’t like it.

Fucking hell.

Turning around, I gave up taking the weird behavior quietly and channeled my best Conner impression…glare, raised eyebrow, and way too much confidence. “Can I help you?”

That had him blinking but not moving back any.

It also had the side effect of Cyrus turning around from where he’d been reading the back of the box on a very discreet-looking camera that I’d never have noticed anywhere in my apartment. He didn’t like what he saw either and immediately straightened to an impressive height. “Are you trying to grope him?”

And the asshole finally stepped back.

Using his brains wasn’t his strong suit based on how he stuttered out a reply but I was glad to be able to breathe again. “No. I. He. You were.”

I still wasn’t sure what he was so weirded out about because we hadn’t done anything remotely gay or strange. Hell, my being slightly distracted and blank was the oddest thing about our behavior.

Cyrus didn’t think we deserved it either based on his sexy glare. “If you think we’ve stolen something, please feel free to call the police so I can sue you for harassment. Other than that, leave us alone and stop following us. It’s creepy at this point.”

Blinking like he was a broken robot, the strange guy, who was probably in his sixties, finally nodded and went back to the counter.

Cyrus let out a slow breath before turning back to me, wearing a soft neutral expression that was his version of a blank face. “This isn’t going like I’d planned. Would you like us to leaveand buy this online? He hasn’t been helpful at all, so I’m still going to have to look a lot of my questions up online.”

Grunts and sighs weren’t very informative.

Who knew?

Okay, wait or give money to the weirdo?

“Let me think?” I didn’t know what I wanted to do but Cyrus didn’t mind.

“Sure. I’m going to finish looking over this one if that’s alright with you, but I’m going to have you move to the other side of me.” It wasn’t really a question but I nodded and shifted around so his body could block mine from the creep.

When I was hidden and safely tucked between him and the corner we’d been standing near, he smiled and looked like he was thinking about kissing me. “Thank you.”
