Flynn’s only a dozen or so games away from the playoffs starting, and the last thing he needs is for his damn head to get knocked off his shoulders.

“Agreed. I’d rather not see my parents either. My siblings and I are all across the country, and none of them are coming home either. Why don’t we just do something here?” Knox adds.

I smile thinking about his siblings. Knox is the second oldest of four, and I get along great with all of his siblings. His older brother, Cole, is an engineer in San Francisco. His younger sisters, Blair and Iris, graduated college not too long ago and live in Denver. Blair works for a prestigious tech company, while Iris is an author. I don’t know what type of books she writes, but I have been told by Knox that under no circumstances am I allowed to buy or read one. Too bad he can’t tell me what to do, so every time she releases a new book, I buy it for Elle. She devours them.

“Okay, Dom. What are you thinking?”

“Probably the same as you. My Pops will end me if he doesn’t get to see me and Zoe this year. You guys know she won’t come home without me. Not with fucking Trent still hanging around.”

Dom’s little sister is still in college. When we were in college and she was in high school, she decided to date this asshole who worked for her dad. Trent’s a fucking waste of space who made her question her self worth and if she was loved for far too long. Their Pops runs one of the biggest gangs in the country. He works closely with my brothers for some stuff, but only when he needs something from the mafia. Aside from that, we live completely separate lives.

“What if we did something here?” I throw the idea out like it doesn’t instantly make my skin crawl.

“No!” Everyone shouts in unison.

“Okay. It was just an idea. We don’t know what Elle’s going to want to do either.”

“Yeah, we do. She wants to be where we are. Just like every other time.” Knox reminds me. “She loves her Papa and all, but we all knowwe’re her family and this is her home. I say we do something here with just us. Let’s go to The Den the night before and cookout the next day. It can be chill. We can call our families, and that’ll be the end of it. I have a game the next day anyway.

We all settle on Knox’s idea. Especially when we realize that Flynn also has a game the next day and Elle’s competition is only two weeks away from then. With that settled, we turn on the Jersey Horns game and settle in to watch.

We’re on the edge of our seats while we watch the top of the eighth inning. The pitcher for the horns is so close to pitching a no hitter, which is a rare occurrence. The Horns and the Reapers are rivals, so every pitch pisses Knox off just a little more. I’m so engrossed in the game that I don’t even notice when the door opens or three giggling girls make their way into the living room. I don’t think that any of the guys notice until Elle plops down in my lap and wraps her arms around my neck.

What game? There was a game on?

With the game long forgotten, I press my lips to hers and coax her lips until she opens up for me. My tongue strokes hers as a deep groan rumbles up from my chest. I grip her hip tightly, but before I can move her so she’s straddling me, a pillow hits me on the side of my head. I pull away from her and glare at Dom. I know damn well that’s where the pillow came from by the way he smirks in triumph.

“Asshole.” I grumble.

“Stop groping my pseudo sister in front of me, dick.” He smarts back before turning his attention back to the game.

“Hey, baby girl. How was training today?” I ask while nipping and peppering her neck with kisses. Dammit, I missed her.

“Mmm– good. The girls and I are going to go to my house and have a girls night. I just wanted to come over and see you for a few minutes before we settle in at home.”

I pull my head back and glare at her, “This is your home. Why don’t you guys just stay here?” My hand flexes around her hip.

I hate her being over at her house ever since that night her stalker scared the fuck out of her. I’d prefer she just move all of her stuff over here. She refuses, because in her words ‘What am I going to do? Sell my house so some random lives on the lucky strip? Absolutely not.’

“Right, but I also have my own house. It’s right over there, actually.” She points in the general direction of her house.

“Don’t be a brat, Elena.” I smirk and tickle her side playfully.

A fake gag comes from around the room. “Get a fucking room or something. You guys are disgusting.” Xavier’s lip curls in genuine revulsion. He’s the closest thing to an actual brother that Elle has. He isn’t being funny… He’s really going to hurl if I don’t stop groping her in front of him.

“I’ll tell you what, Sul.” Elle smirks before bringing her lips to my ear and whispering, “I’ll text you when I come to bed, and you can sneak over. I’ll let you do that thing you’ve been wanting to do and everything.” She discreetly presses her ass into my groin, and I have to fight to remain silent.

“Deal.” I smirk and press a quick kiss to her lips. I’m not ready to let go of her just yet, though. I get comfortable and keep her hostage in my hold but turn my attention to the girls who are both sitting in my recliner that’s otherwise vacant. Nodding in acknowledgment, I smile. “Ladies. How was the gym?”

“Good. A long day, though. Thanks for asking, Sul.” Kenzie smiles.

If I had to pick my favorite of Elle’s friends aside from us, Kenz is it. She’s a really sweet girl and has been such a good friend to Elenaover the years. Elle keeps us separate from all of her other friends for the most part, but Kenz knows who we all are. How can she not when we’ve been to all of her meets our entire lives? She doesn’tknowus, but I know her the best out of everyone. That just comes with popping up at practices more frequently than not.

“Yeah, of course. What about you, Addy?”

Addison, on the other hand, is okay. I mean, she seems cool too, don’t get me wrong. There’s just something about her that causes me to pause. She’s definitely quieter around me, and sometimes I catch her staring at me. Nothing insane, but enough for me to watch her a little closer. Especially when I notice her making eyes at the other guys, who are not paying her a bit of attention, too enthralled in the game.

“It was great. You guys should come watch us practice sometime. I’ve just gotten my new floor routine down.” She looks over at Dom and flutters her eyelashes, which makes me have to fight hard not to laugh.
