“I still can’t believe you love me.”
“Rosie told me about the restaurant, that you’re moving forward. How did you do it?”
“I was finally honest with my dad. And I showed him the video you made. I think it helped him understand what I was feeling.” Her hands, still resting on my chest, slid over and down my arms until she held my hands. “I can’t believe you went to see Lennox.”
“He’s a great guy. And he makes a mean BLT.”
“Did he use a fried green tomato?”
I nodded. “With bacon jam. It was incredible.”
“I should go see him while I’m in town.”
“I’m so proud of you, Liv. This is going to be amazing.”
She smiled. “Thank you for believing in me before I believed in myself.”
“I could say the same to you.”
She leaned in and rested her head against my chest. “Let’s always do that for each other, okay? Whatever it is.”
I nodded. “Okay. But you have to answer one very important question for me first.”
She looked up, eyes wide. “Okay.”
“Did Joe Bailey really send Kelly a piglet wearing wings?”
Olivia started to laugh. “He totally did. And it worked, too. She went out with him that night, and they’ve literally been together every minute they aren’t working since.”
“I did not see that one coming.”
“Oh, I did. Joe’s the sweetest. And Kelly was only being stubborn. I think she was sweet on him the whole time.”
“What’d she name the pig?”
“Persistence. She calls her Percy.”
“That’s...actually kind of perfect.”
“Right? I thought so too.”
“I miss that place.”
“Then come back with me.”
I chuckled. “I may have to stay in the city a few more days. Will you wait for me? Can you be away that long?”
“Perry can handle things while I’m gone.”
“Ugh, Perry. Is he still going to scowl at me whenever he sees me?”
“Most definitely. But he scowls at everyone.”
“Promise you’ll kiss me every time he gives me a mean look.”
She leaned up and pressed her lips against mine. “I’ll kiss you whenever you want, Tyler Marino.”
I smiled into the kiss.
