Alarm seizes my chest when Jamie goes limp beneath me, but I’m relieved when I note her shallow breathing.

Besides, there was a sudden explosion of issues in my sector that had been cropping up lately. Even before I’d gone to sector 2 to claim my breeder I had to deal with a rebellion where one of the largest power plants in the region was located. If there wasan issue there, it could potentially affect the entire power grid in my region.
There was also an incident in region 3 where one of my governors was making unauthorized trips to another sector. It had only come to my attention when I noticed a discrepancy in the travel logs.
After the summit of Sector Leaders I learned that it was important that I pay close attention to those. And sure enough I learned of some misdeeds.
These recent issues were a cause for concern to me because I’m certain the counsel of advisors that I had put together at Braeden’s suggestion were raising concerns about my leadership. I was losing confidence in them. And while the only way to remove me from power was for someone strong enough to beat me in a challenge, or if I voluntarily stepped down, neither of which I intended to do.
I wanted to make sector 10 one of the strongest sectors on the planet. I wanted the people under my protection to thrive.Superiousand homo sapiens. The homo sapiens may be weak but no sector could function without them.
Besides, I knew what it was like to be looked down on. I had to fight for everything I had. Now that I was on top, I had no plans to let go. Besides, while I was in power, I could protect my cousin, the only family I had left. And now I have another person to protect, Jamie.
