The rightness of that growled command is still ricocheting through my body.

It would be so easy to imagine Drew as more than a crush, to give in to a fantasy of him taking care of me in every way—and wanting to give him everything in return.

Love. Lust. Babies.

My pulse skitters as I try to shove that thought back in a metaphorical box, and I duck my head so he can’t see my reaction.

But Drew misreads that, and huffs a low sound of concern that works its way under my skin. “I didn’t hurt you?”

I meet his gaze again. “You couldn’t if you tried.”

“I’m a big guy.”

“I know. I like that about you.” I pat his solid torso and go to move past him, to the tarp and our bags. “Are you going to blush if I change in front of you?”

He catches my wrist. “I have a better idea.”

After we grab clean, dry clothes, he shows me a path to the creek that works its way down to the watering hole.

“If we climb in the opposite direction, there’s a natural shower. It’s why I like this camp site so much.”

Ashoweris an understatement. At the top of the climb is a rock-lined canyon, deep enough that we’re sheltered from the wind, and at the far end of it is a waterfall.

“Drew,” I breathe.

“Nice, huh?”

The sun chooses that moment to burst out from behind clouds.

Warm, sweet air settles against my skin as we stop near the shallow pool. The water is clear as can be, even with the tumbling falls churning it up where it lands. Butterflies and birds flit around, making me feel like a princess in a fairy tale.

“Go on,” Drew says from behind me. “I won’t look.”

I glance back at him, feeling bold. “You can look.”

“Don’t tempt me too much, Brynn.”

“Why? What are you going to do, roar at me again?” I tug off my shirt, letting him see me in just my cotton bra. “You turned that roar into something that felt real good.”

He groans. “Wash up. We have work to do now that the weather’s better.”

I know he’s right. “I’m just teasing.”

He catches my hand and lifts it to his mouth, brushing his lips against my knuckles as his gaze sweeps over me, more wild than the wind we just escaped. “Don’t stop. I like it more than I should.”

CHAPTER 16

DREW

She bumps her hip against mine on her way to the edge of the water, then flicks her gaze over her shoulder. Watching me watching her.

It’s fucking intense to know just how much she likes my attention.

The urge to grab her and hold her tight is nearly overwhelming. To call her a good girl, Daddy’s best girl, and let her kisses chase all my fears away.

My mouth goes dry as she toes off her boots, unbuttons her jeans, and strips off everything except her underwear.

She folds up her jeans, leaving them at the edge of the water, then leans over.
