“I think I have for a while. I was just scared he was going to hurt me again,” I admit as I turn to face her, and I nod to her food and demand, “Eat!”
She nods, and I take a seat on the spare chair next to Brick, who tilts his head and asks, “Can you tell me about the organization?”
I can’t help the smile that overtakes my face, and Blade moves closer. I begin to explain the process of everything, letting the excitement take over, all while Mama eats and adds in what she helped with, which is basically everything while I receive several messages from Nyx complaining about the Chevrolet, which only makes Blade laugh.
Maybe Nyx was right. Everything will be okay, and I’ll finally get the family I’ve always wanted.
Chapter 29
Fury – Two Days Later
I slowly lick my bottom lip as I sit astride my bike, eyeing the building before me, wondering if now is the best time to do this.
Tate is at preschool, and Viper will be picking her up and I may have called Lake and asked her, too, without mentioning Viper.
All I had to do was tell her my plans, and she jumped at the chance of getting Tate. She is probably going to kill me, but right now, I don’t care, and besides, it would also help her being there when Tate sees Vipers cut. I ordered him to keep on this time round.
Since she woke up and was terrified of the brothers when wearing cuts, they’ve been removing them when she’s around, only being comfortable with Blade, Dad, me, and Brick. But it’s time to help her face her fears so she knows not all brothers are like that dickhead.
She needs to know she’s safe, and the best thing is that Lake and Viper won’t argue around Tate.
The door to Angel’s Accountants opens, and I smile as Skylar, wearing a knee-length dress that hugs her figure, leans against the door frame and tilts her head at me.
She wasn’t happy being back at work, but Mama Lopez demanded it, saying she needed to clear her head, though Brick still hadn’t left her side. Which at this point is a good thing.
He’s proving he only wants her, and I think she's softening toward him a little.
Blade has also gone back to the club at Mama Lopez’s insistence, though he does go back to see his mama before going to his woman, who is getting bigger by the day with her twins, not that I’d tell her that to her face or anything.
The woman is scary as shit when hormonal.
“Now, what do I owe this pleasure?” Sky asks, and I grin and admit, “I wanted to see if you would like a ride?”
“What about Tate?” she asks with concern, making my heart flutter.
Fuck I love this girl.
My grin widens as I admit, “Auntie Lake and Uncle Viper are picking her up and spending the evening with her until Dad can pick her up after his run.”
Sky’s mouth drops, and I chuckle, “It’s time for them to have it out without arguing, I don’t want Randy to go back to Gary’s Motors next week.”
She huffs out a laugh and informs me, “She’s going to kill you,” and I nod because, yeah, she will.
I nod to my bike and say, “Then you better hop on before she gets hold of me.”
Grinning, Skylar turns and heads back inside for a few minutes before returning with her bag and I relax as she locks up before coming my way.
I smile automatically as she places her bag in my side saddle, then climbs on behind me, holding onto my shoulders for support.
My whole body lights up as she wraps her arms around my waist, placing her head on my back, and I grab hold of her hands, wanting a minute, no, needing one.
“Hold on tight, precious,” I state, and she giggles as I start my bike and rev it before heading out.
We ride for about two hours, just enjoying the open roads while ignoring the threatening messages from Lake before I bring us to the meadows that I brought her to not long ago, before everything happened, and I turn off the bike, cupping her hands around my waist.
“I missed this,” she admits quietly after about five minutes of quietness, and I hum, looking over at the scenery and reply, “I missed this too, precious, but do you know what would make this better?”
“What?” she asks, and I grin and state, “If you were in front of me so I could hold you.”
