He hurt her.

“I’ve driven her truck several times,” I admit as I lean forward, trying to think of anything to make her wake up, to bring her back to me and, well, Blade as well, I guess.

“I know a way to wake her, precious,” Nyx says, and I sigh, knowing where he’s coming from.

Brick.

Shaking my head, I mutter, “Guess it’s worth a shot,” and I lean forward, “Mama if you wake, I’ll go get Brick…” Her monitors beep a little faster, and Lake leans forward, nodding at me to continue, and I whisper, “Come on, Mama, wouldn’t you like that, me talking to Brick?”

Her little finger twitches, and I suck in a breath before the monitors calm again, and I groan, leaning back in the seat.

“She twitched, Sky, that is good news,” Lake says, and I nod, knowing she’s right.

“The woman is being stubborn,” Luna sighs, and I snort and reply, “More like she doesn’t believe I’d go get Brick. She raised me, remember?”

Luna grins wide as she gently rubs her large bump as the door to Mama’s room opens and I look up as Viper, Venom, Psycho and Blade walk in and I can’t help but snort knowing why he brought those three men.

One way to get the three women out of the room so he can speak to me without them interjecting.

So much for him staying quiet.

“Brought the cavalry, brother?” Nyx asks, his voice soothing me as Tate whispers, “Hi, Uncle Blade.”

I watch as Blade softens and walks over to her and gently picks her up, and she hugs him tightly, and I hate him for it because, dammit, why can’t he be nasty and mean?

“You still wary of the cuts, sweetheart?” he asks Tate, and she nods as she puts her head on his shoulder, and I look away, knowing I have no right to pull her out of his arms.

He’s her uncle and has been there since day one with her, and honestly, if anyone can get her over her fear of cuts, it will be him.

“You touch me, Venom, and I will do more than knee you where it hurts!” I hear Raya threaten and look over to see Venom, mid-hand in the air, making me smirk as Psycho gently takes Hudson from Ivy and mutters, “He just wants a moment with Sky, cupcake...”

She nods before looking my way and blowing me a kiss, making me smile while Lake openly glares at an equally pissed-off Viper, making me wince as Nyx questions, “Why would you bring Viper to get Lake? You know she wants fuck all to do with him.”

“Honestly, I thought maybe Mama would wake up and fix them,” Blade replies, and I hate to admit it, it is a good plan, but it doesn’t work.

I think maybe Mama needs Brick, which is sad, really, because he doesn’t deserve her.

“Just so you know,” Nyx says, “I’m not leaving.”

My stomach tightens at his words, my heart fluttering, and I know, without even turning around, his eyes are on me while I watch Lake in case she needs me.

“I wouldn’t expect you to, brother. Five years ago, you claimed her, and I am so fucking glad you did,” Blade replies, and I swallow hard.

Do I regret not giving Nyx another chance romantically sooner? No, not really, because I found myself in the past five years. I just regret not becoming his friend again, as Mama suggested, so the trust could be earned quicker, but I was emotionally shut off.

“I swear, Viper, you put one disease-riddled finger on me, I’ll punch you,” Lake threatens, and Viper smirks and replies, “Ifanyone is diseased, then it would be you, you know, considering who your mother is.”

“Ah fuck he’s done it now,” Psycho mumbles, and I wince as Lake’s face reddens with anger.

“Well, you not only screwed Cherri but also made out with Caitlyn, and considering you are the only man I’ve ever been with, I guess I do need to get myself tested, huh?” she sneers back before looking at me. She says, “I’ll be back once the dogs have been removed,” and I nod as she links arms with Raya, and they both walk out with two brothers, watching them with anger.

Damn stupid brothers.

“You two are stupid,” Luna says as she stands, shaking her head at them before looking at her man and stating, “I’m going to the cafeteria, try not to cause any more fights!”

I grin wide at her words as Blade complains, “Hey, it isn’t my fault those two are idiots.”

“You are their Pres, and you haven’t exactly shown them how to treat women,” Luna states before bending over Mama and kissing her cheek. Then, without looking at her gobsmacked husband, she walks out with Ivy and Psycho, followed by the two idiots mumbling underneath their breaths.
