Her body shakes, her adrenaline coming down, and I hold her closer instead of grabbing Tate, knowing she’ll fall apart.

“Ivy, Lake, and Raya are on their way,” Psycho says as we enter the waiting room and I nod as I guide Sky to a chair, helping her sit with Tate, and a doctor walks over.

“We need to take her to a room to check her out,” the man states.

Sky glares at him and demands, “You will do the checks here!”

He swallows and looks at me, but I shrug and state, “Her mama has been stabbed, and her daughter is unconscious. There is no way she’ll allow Tate out of her sight, so do as she demands and start the checks.”

He swallows again, his gray eyes widening a little before he nods the nurses over to begin his checks on Tate, including taking blood and not once does she wake making my stomach sink and the urge to grab her off Sky is high but I hold back.

The fuckers overdosed me with GHB. I dread to think what they gave my fucking girl.

Skylar doesn’t take her eyes off the doctors, watching their every move while Brick and Blade watch her as Ivy rushes in.

“Oh my god, Sky,” she gasps as she runs over to us, Lake and Raya following, causing both Viper and Venom to step closer.

“Mama,” Sky sobs as Ivy wraps her arms around her and holds her tightly.

“She’ll make it. Mama Lopez is strong, you know this, Sky,” Lake reassures, and Raya nods in agreement as she kneels beside my girls, her hand going to my daughter's leg.

“What’s your verdict on my daughter, doc?” I ask with a bite to my tone, the fucker taking too fucking long for my liking.

“They used chloroform to knock her out. All her vitals are good, no visible injuries. She should make a full recovery,” he confirms, and I slowly close my eyes and swallow hard as I place my head on my daughter, my eyes stinging.

“Fuck,” I choke and gently take Tate from Skylar, who lets me before holding her close and tight as I wrap my arm around my girl, pulling her into me as well as she sobs.

Two hours, that is how long they had Tate, two long fucking hours, and I’d never been so fucking scared in my life.

“I’ll come back and check on her in a little while and have the nurses monitor her, but you may find she’ll sleep for the rest of the day,” the doctor says.

I hum so he knows I heard him, and he gives me a kind smile before leaving while I close my eyes, pressing my nose against Skylar’s head, promising myself to never let these two out of my fucking sight again, and when I kill Lacey, my dad will be with them.

Chapter 24

Fury

I gently run my lips over Skylar’s forehead as she runs her fingers through Tate’s hair, who hasn’t woken up in the past hour we’ve sat here, waiting for news on Mama Lopez, and is still lying on my chest.

Dad offered to take her about half an hour ago, but I refused. I can’t have her out of my arms, needing to feel her light breaths against my skin so I know she’s okay, that I know she’s alive, she’s safe.

My daughter was taken, and my woman put herself in danger to save her. I don’t think my heart rate will come down anytime soon, and having them out of my sight, well, it’ll be hard, especially Tate.

“I’m sorry,” Skylar whispers in the quiet room, “I shouldn’t have run away when I knew in my gut the scene wasn’t what it seemed.”

“It’s okay, precious,” I whisper, but she shakes her head, and I state firmly, “It is, and Tate being taken was not your fault, so stop blaming yourself!”

I feel her tears drop on my arm, and I press my lips against her forehead harder.

I know she feels guilty, but she shouldn’t. Even women who trust their men one hundred percent would struggle with what she walked in on and the fact she’s only just started trusting me again after I lied to her after I basically used her for the club. I’m not surprised she walked away but what I am amazed about is that she knew what she saw wasn’t what it seemed after she had calmed down.

“I don’t want to be insensitive, but I need to know. You call her mama, Skylar,” Blade whispers after a few minutes of silence, and Ivy, Raya, and Lake all tense while Skylar doesn’t lift her eyes off Tate and keeps her head on my chest, my arm tightly over her shoulders.

Anna has been in surgery for over an hour, and no one has said a word to Sky about her connection with Anna. Don’t get me wrong, Blade and Brick haven’t stopped staring at her, Blade more so because she called Anna mama and every little thing he’s said about his mother has come back to him tenfold.

Things have begun to make sense in his eyes, but he needs to know how they became close, and he knows he won’t get it out of me.

“Please, Skylar,” Blade whispers again, and she sighs as she looks his way, but again, not moving her head off my chest.
