What the actual fuck?

I shake my head with a sigh. Seeing that photo in her drawer made my jaw drop, but looking at the ones on her desk, my heartraced because my daughter was in them until I noticed the one of Sky and Anna.

Every time she brought up her mama, I just thought it was Melissa she was talking about.

Fuck, it explains how she afforded to do a double major and how she got her office.

I need to get her to trust me again, to get her to want to know me, but to do that, she needs to give me a fucking crumb, but she isn’t. A big part of me thinks Anna is the reason why and not because Anna wants to cause shit, more like something happened, and she wants to respect the woman she sees as a mother, a woman who has had all of us blind.

All this time, despite how he treated her, Anna has been protecting Brick while becoming the mother Sky needed and helping her gain a relationship with my daughter, which I’m not really too upset over. She clearly did it in hopes Sky would give me a chance again, it also explains why Anna smacked me when I outed Bricks order.

I hurt her daughter.

Fuck, my head’s a mess, it’s why I wanted to come today, to have a ride.

I need her to trust me. I don’t know how to do it, and then there’s the fact I’m lying to my best friend, something he doesn’t deserve, unlike his father.

Fuck.

I shake my head and mutter, “Fuck it,” before grabbing my phone and I bring up his number.

“Fury, everything okay on the run?” Blade answers within two rings, and I clear my throat, my stomach in knots.

“Yeah, brother Psycho’s just catching up with Cage,” I reply, then clear my throat again and say, “Listen, Leo, you are my best friend, and a lot of shit has gone down, and I just, fuck…”

“Is this about Sky?” he asks quietly, and I sigh.

“It is,” I admit, “I found out something, and I just, I’m trying to earn her trust, and to do that, I have to lie to you, the club, Brick.”

“That’s why you wanted to go today, to get your head sorted,” he confirms, and I hum out a confirmation. He’s quiet for a moment before he states, “Earn her trust, even if it means keeping us in the dark. Please do whatever you need to win her back. My dad fucked things up big time, and both you and Sky got hurt in the process, so do what you need to do, Nyx. You have my blessing.”

I look down, eyeing Skylar’s name sprawled on my tank, the same font that is on my neck, still feeling uneasy, but I think it’s because of the treatment of Anna.

“Anna isn’t being a bitch like everyone claims to Sky, she’s not keeping her from you,” I admit, “That is all I can say, and I am willing to say because the woman doesn’t deserve the shit that is being thrown at her,” I sigh, “Lie after lie all because she madeonemistake while Brick has made several including telling her to get over the fact he fathered a child with a whore.”

“But you can’t tell me why she wants fuck all to do with me because you want her trust?” he asks, and I deny, “No because she never told me, but if I did, I wouldn’t have told you anyhow.”

He sighs before he states, “Okay, okay. Get her trust, brother, and I’ll back you every step of the way.”

“Thank you, brother,” I mutter before I hang up and look at the men to see them still talking. I tap my left leg as I lean back a little on my bike, my mind going in circles.

I need her to trust me, so maybe if I show her that I trust her with the most important person in my life other than her, she’ll begin to soften instead of trying to run from me.

I quickly bring up Mama’s number, a plan forming.

“Hey darling,” she answers after three rings, “do you want to speak to Tate?”

“Uh yeah, in a minute, Mama, I just uh, I need a favor, and you are not going to like it.” I answer, and she sighs.

“I’m about to lose some granddaughter time, aren’t I?” she confirms, and I snort.

The damn woman is obsessed with her granddaughter and the fact she had a week without her, and this is meant to be their time, and I’m breaking their time? Yeah, I’ll owe her big time for this.

“Well, if it helps Mama, if my plan works, you can watch her every time I want to take Sky out for a date,” I confirm, and she sucks in a breath and asks, “Are you sure?”

I smile a little, not surprised she’s figured out what I want to do, and I admit, “I need to earn her trust, Mama.”

“And what better way than proving to her that you trust her with your life….” She finishes my thought, and I nod even though she can’t see me. She states, “Okay, I’ll get Tate ready. Call Skylar so she’s not blindsided, son…”
