The trust is broken…
Mama grins wide, all her teeth showing as she admits, “When it comes to your happiness? Never… so Fury?”
I laugh and lean back in my seat before I tell Mama all about how an elderly woman reported him for ‘stalking’ her when, in reality, he was sitting in the café watching my building where she was standing, making her laugh. We spend the rest of the day chatting while she worked on the nonprofit for me and I’m content like I always am when she’s around.
Honestly, I don’t know what I’d do without my mama, even if she does keep trying to persuade me to give Fury a second chance and to have a relationship with Blade.
Chapter 6
Fury
I half smile as Tate’s giggles echo in the garage while Blade chuckles at her antics with his old lady before grunting as he loosens the bolt on the exhaust of old man Trivers’ Chevrolet, and I catch it with the trolley jack, shaking my head.
Fucking stupid car.
It’s old, like 1970’s old, and instead of storing it, keeping it in good condition, the man drives it every fucking day despite our encouragement not to.
It’s the car he drove his wife in after they got married, the car he brought his kids and grandkids home in. Since his wife passed, he refuses to drive anything else, which some people believe is romantic, while me and Blade, well, we fucking hate the thing, but he promised his grandfather before he passed to always look after his friend, old man Trivers.
Bet he didn’t expect the thing to be in the garage at least four times a fucking week which normally, Blade is the one to fix it up, but this time, it’s a two-man fucking job.
Yippee for me…not.
“Hey, have you guys heard of Angel’s Kids?” Luna asks as she places two cups on the bench, and I look at her as I gently pull the exhaust out from underneath the car on the ramp.
“Isn’t that the nonprofit that raises money for kids in the system?” I confirm before walking over, wiping my hands with my rag, then grabbing my coffee mug with a nod of thanks before taking a sip and sighing with contentment.
Fuck she makes a good cup of joe.
Luna nods, her eyes shining with pride as she says, “Yeah, they also focus on helping the kids find their forever homes. They’ve already rehomed over forty kids since opening four years ago, but no one knows who the founder is. Apparently, they’ve managed to raise funds to open a children’s home in town for children aged between fourteen through seventeen, and it will be based on top educational support. They are seeking contributions from local businesses to help sustain the operation, including donations of food, clothing, and other essential items. The staff will be paid through the nonprofit with the money they raise while scholarships have been offered for several kids that will live there.”
I raise a brow, pretty impressed with whoever thought of the organization to begin with and how far they’ve managed to take it in such a short amount of time, while Blade sighs, “You want the club to donate, don’t you?” Reading through his old lady and I chuckle lightly as she bats her eyelashes at him.
“It’s an amazing cause,” I add, agreeing with Luna. “There are over four hundred thousand kids in the system right now, and if we can contribute to an organization that is helping the kids, then I’m all for it, and I’m sure the brothers will be aswell. Besides, think how much positivity the club will gain if we become one of the main benefactors. The town will love us even more than they already do, and I’m sure the Furies will want to contribute as well.”
Blade nods, then states, “I’ll speak with Medic before bringing it up in church to ensure the brothers won’t miss out on their earnings.” At that, Luna squeals, making me chuckle before I take another sip of the coffee as Tate wraps her arms around my legs. I look down with a smile, seeing her whole attention is on me.
This little girl, fuck I’m lucky to call her mine. I just wish her mama was Skylar…
“You alright, sugar plum?” I ask, and she nods before giving me a little pout and asks, “Can I go see Sky-Sky?”
Blade and Luna look at her with sadness, and I half smile.
We were supposed to have a daddy/daughter day, but Blade called, knowing Ivy isn’t starting in the garage yet and Randy’s off somewhere with his daughter, however, Tate didn’t mind coming here instead.
Nodding, I agree, “Yeah, baby, we’ll go see Skylar after I’ve helped Blade with the job.”
Tate squeals before rushing over to her own workbench, where her plastic tools are with the pink cars that she likes to ‘fix,’ and I grin.
She looks fucking adorable.
Anna bought her some pink coveralls for her birthday, while my mama bought her pink boots last week before leaving with Dad on a cruise.
It’s something they like to do once a year, though Mama hates that I won’t allow her to take Tate.
“Leo?” Luna whispers, and I look his way to see his focus on Tate, and I sigh.
“You good, brother?” I ask, and he hums and replies, “Yeah, I just can’t understand why she’ll have a relationship with Tate but not us,” he looks at me, “This can’t just be because Dad got you to lie to her, there has to be something more, I just don’t know what.”
