Another sob escapes right before he shoves his tongue in my mouth. I instantly taste beer and whiskey as his tongue assaults my own, bumping against the fake fangs I have pressed onto my canines.
“Oh, I dig the fangs, babe,” he laughs before shoving his tongue down my throat again. I’m limp in his arms as he does what he wants to me. Maybe if I don’t fight him, he’ll take what he wants without hurting me too much. That I can handle. Maybe. Possibly.
Trenton’s hands travel down my back before he grabs my ass. He squeezes me painfully before he pulls his hand back and slips it into the waistband to grab my bare flesh.
He rips his mouth away from mine and I gasp at the reprieve from his abuse.
“What the fuck are you wearing?” he growls when he finds my ass covered in leather when he shoves his hand down my pants.
When I don’t say anything, he grabs my chin between two of his fingers and pinches. “Answer me, bitch.”
“I’m wearing—I’m wearing a bodysuit,” I respond quietly, my gaze locked on the grass below. My entire body trembles with fear, and it only gets worse with the words he says next.
“You just had to wear something that would make this more difficult, didn’t you?”
My body shakes with the nausea that swirls around in the pit of my stomach. Heat flashes through my body with gooseflesh breaking out against my skin simultaneously.
Just as I feel the vomit make its way up my throat, a voice breaks through the fog surrounding me.
“Hey! What’s going on over here?”
My eyes widen when I register someone walking this way, shouting, and Trenton swears profusely, but releases his hold on me.
The second his hands leave my body, I bolt. But I don’t run toward the person who inadvertently saved me, but into the woods instead.
“Hey! Get back here!” I hear Trenton shout and swear some more, but I don’t dare look back. My heart thuds in rhythm with my boots hitting the dirt below, keeping me in a sort of trance as I escape my almost fate.
I twist and turn my way through the trees, moving deeper and deeper into their depth until nothing but utter darkness surrounds me. Some part of me is terrified to be out here by myself, but another, bigger part of me is only relieved. Out here, no one can find me. Out here, no one can touch me.
I just need to escape him.
I don’t know how long I run for before I begin to slow, my body unable to keep up with the need I have coursing through me. My legs burn from the exertion, and I’m forced to walk. But I must be far enough away now no one can find me, and that’s good enough for me.
I have no idea what time it is, but it must be late into the night. Or maybe not. I truly can’t tell within the depth of these trees. Their branches block out any sort of light the moon gives, leaving me shrouded in darkness.
I don’t even have my cellphone on me. It’s in my purse, back in the house, somewhere. I don’t even remember where I left it. Maybe in the bathroom, upstairs…
Shit.
Now that my body has forced me to walk, unable to keep up with the strain of running, especially in boots in the middle of the woods, I trudge through the maze of trees. Exhaustion seeps into my every pore, and I have to force myself to continue.
Now I have gotten away, I need to find my way back and tell the girls what happened.
They’ll believe me, right?
Of course they won’t.
Who would want to touch you, anyway?
They’ll think it’s all lies.
I force a shuddering breath through my lips as I realize the one voice that has never gone away is right—this time. Okay, every time.
They won’t believe me. Especially if I tell them it was Trenton Williams. It would only make their disbelief worse. EvenIdidn’t believe someone like him would want me, so why would I expect them to?
I stumble along, trying to remember the way back, when I suddenly have to blink a few times. A light flashes again and I stop, freezing right in my tracks. I wait a few moments, even holding my breath as I strain my eyes in front of me. I strain to listen for any noise, but all I can hear is the sound of my own heart beating rapidly.
Thump.
