“True, but I have never tried to reveal truth before.”
“It could be a part of your seer abilities, though.” I bounce excitedly on my toes. “Prophesy is kind of revealing the truth, right?”
“I guess, but I don’t know how to do this,” Adrian sighs.
“It could be like when you healed Jayden in the underworld. You never know until you try.”
Jayden opens the door to the dorms, and I glance behind me with a groan. Draven’s still following us.
“Ignore him.” Jayden places a hand on my back, nudging me to go ahead of him through the door.
We trudge up the stairs, but when we get to the tenth floor, I spin around, glaring at Draven. “No.”
“What?” he asks, confused. He tries to take another step.
“You don’t belong up here.” I cross my arms over my chest.
“But if you’re all planning the mission, I should be there.” He takes another step.
I push him but he doesn’t budge. “I don’t care if we’re forced to bring you on the mission with us. I do not have to let you in my space.”
“I’m a part of this. Even Adrian said so. Tell her, Adrian.” Draven knocks my hand away.
“I never said you had to help plan, just that you had to be on the mission. If Beth doesn’t want you in her space, that’s her choice.” Adrian continues up the stairs.
“C’mon, man. This is bullshit. You need me.” Draven glares at me.
“No. We don’t need you for this. I don’t even want you on my floor, so you need to go.” I plant my feet, widening my stance.
The thought of Draven in my space gives me the creeps. A shiver rakes down my spine. No, he doesn’t get to be there.
“Then we should go to neutral territory and plan.”
“Yeah, that’s a genius idea. Go where anyone in the school could hear our plans and cause mass panic. No fucking thank you.” I shake my head and turn to leave.
Draven grips my arm and yanks me back roughly. My back bumps into his chest before I get a chance to step away.
I whirl on him and snatch my arm from his grasp. “What the fuck do you think you’re doing?”
“I’m trying to stop you so I can talk to you.”
“What about our interactions the last few days makes you think Iwantto talk to you?” I growl.
“I don’t care,” Draven roars.
“That’s enough,” Jayden says with a deadly calm.
He steps in front of me and I don’t even care that he’s protecting me this time. There’s something wild and dangerous in Draven’s eyes.
Jayden’s shadows writhe over his skin.
Please don’t start a fight in the middle of the stairwell.
“Stay out of this, Jayden,” Draven sneers.
“You need to just get over yourself and realize that she’s never going to want you.” Jayden clenches his fists at his sides.
He’s coiled tight, ready to strike if it comes to it. I hope it doesn’t though.
