“That’s pretty awesome.”
“Of course it is because I am awesome.” Raven tosses her dark hair over her shoulder.
We all chuckle but it quickly dies as we go back to our food. The memories of that voice stick in my head like glue.
Who is this person and who is their next target? Will we be able to stop them before it’s too late?

“There you are.” Rebecca hurries to the table.
Her brows are pinched down—not a good sign. Did we do something wrong or does she have bad news for us?
“What’s wrong?” I ask.
Rebecca sighs. “I got in contact with the oracle.”
“Why don’t you sound happy about that?”
I almost don’t want to hear her answer. It can’t be good.
“The oracle was insistent that the shield is where Ares left it in Sparta, not far from the grove of Ares.” Rebecca taps her foot.
“That’s not possible,” I say, glancing at Raven.
Jayden sits forward with his hand on my knee. “It is possible, though.”
“What do you mean?” I ask.
“We already thought that the places in ancient history were moved to the US. This just confirms it, right?”
He’s thinking more clearly than I am apparently.
“Where is Sparta though? We never really mapped that out.” I chew my lip.
Adrian drums his fingers on the table before speaking. “If I remember correctly, it was relatively close to Athens, but we should check the maps and see what we can find.”
“Well, we should finish up here and look at the maps.” I pick up a hot wing and take a bite.
Raven grimaces. “I don’t know how you can eat those things. It’s like the fires of the underworld in my mouth.”
“It’s good. I like spicy food.” I shrug.
I groan internally at the bite of heat on my tongue as I chew. The flavors explode in my mouth.
Rebecca plants her hands on her hips, glancing between the four of us. “When will you be going?”
“As soon as we figure out a direction,” I say. “Could the place actually be named Sparta? It seems like the logical conclusion for the oracle’s words.”
“That would narrow down the search a lot,” Raven agrees.
“Can we be that lucky though? That almost seems too easy.”
“It most definitely won’t be easy.” Rebecca raises an eyebrow at me.
“There are going to be monsters and gods know what else after us.” Raven flexes her hand, probably wishing she still had the new ax.
“We may also have crazy warring humans to worry about.” I grab another wing and take a bite.
