I blink and let my magic crackle beneath my skin.

They don’t seem to have control over my magic as it fills my body.

Can it really be that easy as shocking the person out of my head? I direct the electricity to my head and concentrate on wrapping a shield around my mind, not even sure it will work.

It has to work. Please work. I don’t have any other options and I want to evict this person like yesterday.

No. Come to me, daughter of Zeus, the weird voice in my head screams at me.

Fuck off,I snarl back at the voice. I’m so done with people thinking they can control me.

They all underestimate me and I’m perfectly fine with that. Whoever this person is underestimated how strong I am and my devotion to the academy that saved me from being chased by monsters forever.

I will not be your puppet. Get the fuck out of my head.

I push even harder at my magic in an attempt to create a wall around my mind. Pushing layer upon layer of power into my mind.

No one will be able to get in my head once it’s done. I’m sure of it.

I can’t help but remember Dax’s words when he attacked me. They don’t want me there on their side. They want me dead.

So why is the creepy voice trying to get me to leave? So it will be easier to kill me? No, thanks.

My leg jerks like they are trying to control my movements and make me walk forward but don’t have full control of me.

The voice fades in and out the longer I work to block it until finally it’s gone completely.

I grin as I take a step toward Jayden.

“You’re back?” he asks with relief.

“Yup.” I wrap my arms around him.

He pulls me in and presses his lips to mine in a bruising kiss that I am able to return this time. He squeezes me close, bringing my body flush with his. I thread my fingers through his hair and nip at his closed lips to deepen the kiss.

Someone clears their throat behind me, and I sigh into Jayden’s mouth. Can’t I just have a moment with him?

Breaking the kiss, I turn on Raven with a glare. “What?”

“How?” she asks with a frown.

“I had no idea if it would work but it did.”

The scariest part of that was not knowing if it would work. I didn’t have any other options and I definitely didn’t want to be stuck like that.

“What did you do?” Jayden asks.

“I wrapped my power around my mind. It created a shield, I guess. But it kicked the psycho out of my head.” I lay my head on Jayden’s shoulder.

Raven stands next to us with her hands on her hips. “Thank the gods, you’re back to normal.”

“What the fuck happened?” Jayden asks.

He doesn’t let me pull away, squeezing me tighter to him.

“It happened next to that conference room, Raven. You remember the one we heard the creepy voice?” I turn wide eyes on Raven.

“That’s kind of a weird coincidence.” Raven chews her lip.
