“Eventually, you’re going to see that he’s not good for you. His father…” he trails off.

“Don’t you fucking dare bring up that same old bullshit. He’s not Hades and you know it.” I clench my fists, lightning crackling on my hands.

This fucking guy is going to get zapped repeatedly. He doesn’t even appear concerned by my scowl. Idiot.

“Isn’t he though? He even has his shadows,” Draven says.

I take a threatening step forward, ready to just push past him if I have to.

“I’m over you and your bullshit prejudice, Draven. You’re mad because Jayden’s dad is one of the big three and yours isn’t. Get over it and get the fuck out of my way.”

Draven gulps but narrows his eyes on me. He doesn’t move and I nearly scream in frustration at the idiot. Why do people have to be stubborn asses when I’m in a hurry?

Someone took that guy over and now I’m having to tell Draven all about himself. He’s a fucking moron.

“It’s not bullshit prejudice, Beth. It’s facts. You pay attention in Ancient History. You’ve seen all the stories of Hades. What he did to Persephone? Can you really be with the son of someone like that?”

“I’m not having this discussion with you and if you don’t move, I’m going to fucking zap you.” I plant my hands on my hips.

He needs to fucking move before I let all my anger and frustration out on him.

“Why won’t you see reason? What did he do to you in the underworld?” he asks.

“Hey, asshole,” Jayden yells from the other side of Draven. “She obviously doesn’t want to hear your shit.”

“Nobody was talking to you, Jayden,” Draven growls.

Jayden storms past Draven and pulls me into his side. His hand on my hip creates shivers raking down my spine. I almost roll my eyes at the possessive gesture but stop myself. I had wanted help.

The guy just doesn’t take no for an answer. It’s fucking exhausting.

“I never said you were talking to me, but when I see my girl looking like she’s about to kill someone, I have to step in.” He squeezes me tighter.

His girl? He’s barely spoken to me since we got back and now he’s claiming me as his?

What the hell?

“We are having a private conversation,” Draven says through gritted teeth.

“No, I was trying to leave and was subjected to your fucking whining. Now, excuse me but I need to go find Rebecca,” I say.

I move to step past him, and he grabs my arm. Spinning, I rip my arm from his grasp and shove him away from me, putting a small bit of magic behind the shove.

Draven gasps as he gets zapped and he stumbles back. Jayden advances on him, grabbing his collar and yanking him so their faces are almost touching.

The two demigods glare menacingly at each other.

“You ever touch her again, and I don’t care who your father is, I will send you to fucking Tartarus. Are we clear?” Jayden says.

His tone is icy as he scowls at Draven. I have no doubt he really could send Draven to Tartarus but that’s probably not the best idea right now.

Hermes would be pissed. I like Hermes, so I don’t really want him to hate me.

I grip Jayden’s arm and pull him away from Draven. “C’mon, Jayden. He’s not worth it.”

Draven scoffs but finally backs away and I sag in relief. Thank the fucking fates.

“You’re right. He’s not,” Jayden says, shaking his head.
