“Have you spoken to Adrian and Raven yet? Apparently, my skills are needed on your next mission,” Draven says smugly.
This guy. I think he may have a bigger ego than Jayden. What the hell? I honestly didn’t think that was possible.
“Go away, Draven.” I slam my tray down on the counter and start piling my plate high.
“Why? I’m needed on this mission; why are you even going, Jayden?” Draven raises a brow.
I spin around but Jayden is directly behind me. His eyes are hard and cold.
“Adrian saw us all there. If he saw Jayden with us, then he is absolutely needed.”
“But I’m the most important here because I can use magic the rest of you can’t.” Draven grins and I lunge forward.
Jayden grabs me around the waist to stop me from attacking the idiot. “Stop. He’s not worth it.”
“I’m tired of his bullshit, Jayden.” Electricity crackles in my palms.
“Stop, Beth. I’m not worried about his taunting.”
I deflate in his arms, but the idiot isn’t finished yet.
“If I were you, I would just stay behind because it’s going to be really embarrassing when Beth realizes that she’d rather be with me.”
“In your dreams,” Raven scoffs.
A crack fills the room and Draven grabs at his head. “Ow, what the fuck, Raven?”
“Jayden stopped Beth from punching you, but you deserved it, so I did it for her.” Raven grins.
“Thanks, Raven,” I say.
“Anytime, bestie.” Raven grins and shoves Draven out of her way.
“Watch it, Raven.” Draven rubs the back of his head. “You guys need me.”
“I don’t even want to go on this stupid mission anymore,” I grumble.
“No, Beth, you have to go.” Draven lunges forward, but Raven blocks him.
“Stay away from me, Draven.” I grab my tray and stomp toward the Zeus table.
“That guy is an asshole,” Jayden mumbles. “How are we going to sit in a car with him for days?”
“I don’t know. This could be a disaster waiting to happen.” I set my tray down on the table and take a seat.
Jayden takes the seat next to me while Raven sits across from me. Draven walks up to my other side and moves to put his tray down, but I block him.
“What do you think you’re doing?” I ask with a raised brow.
“They’re sitting with you and I’m going on the mission too.”
“No, I didn’t invite you to sit here. You can’t just sit with us because you think you’re entitled to.” I shake my head, narrowing my eyes at him.
Raven tilts her head to the side. “What makes you think any of us want to sit with you?”
“We’re a team now, right?” Draven asks.
I nearly choke on the bite of eggs I just shoved in my mouth and turn sharply to him. “You can’t be serious after the bullshit you just said.”
