“Fine, but I’m not giving names; someone else can do that.”
As much as I don’t like or trust Draven, I don’t want him dead. I know it could be a death sentence for demigods outside of the academy until we figure out who’s bringing back the monsters.
The healer hurries away to the same cabinet he always does when I get injured on campus and pulls the vial from it with a huff.
“I swear I have never had to administer this stuff so much in my life until you came to the academy.”
“What can I say? I attract danger.” I open my mouth, and he places three red drops of his elixir on my tongue.
My back arches as searing heat crashes through my side and I grit my teeth to bite back a scream.
Sometimes the healing hurts worse than the actual injury. I grip Jayden’s hand harder as the skin knits itself back together.
The door crashes open and Raven storms inside with Adrian and Rebecca hot on her heels.
“What the fuck happened, B?” Raven asks.
“Stray magic,” I grunt.
I exhale a long breath as the elixir does its job. Slowly, the cooling medicine wipes out the heat of the flames beneath my skin and I relax back onto the pillow.
“Fuck, that’s much better.”
Rebecca steps forward with her arms crossed and glares down at me. “How did this happen?”
“I was hit with stray magic,” I say but don’t elaborate.
“That magic was intended to kill,” the healer cuts in.
“One of the students tried to kill you?” Rebecca asks in shock.
Jayden leans against the gurney. “It wasn’t her they were after. It was me.”
Raven gasps. “Draven did that?”
I shoot her a nasty glare and Jayden chuckles. It’s the second time tonight I’ve glared at my bigmouthed friend.
“He was drunk. They were all drunk. He made a stupid mistake.” I sit up a little straighter.
I don’t want anyone getting expelled over this stunt when I’m fine. The healer fixed me up.
“Did this happen at the unsanctioned bonfire you all were having?” Rebecca raises a brow.
Shit. The Dionysus kids are always getting into trouble. They are the only ones who can get alcohol into the academy since their dad is the God of wine and revelry.
“We didn’t drink, Rebecca. We were keeping an eye on things and it’s a good thing we did because another student left in a daze.” I shift on the mattress.
“It doesn’t matter. You were all at an unsanctioned event and you got hurt unnecessarily.”
“Don’t expel him,” I say.
“No one is getting expelled.” Rebecca sighs. “There will be a punishment, though.”
I breathe out a sigh of relief at her words. No one is getting expelled.
Jayden pats my leg. I glance up at him and he grins back at me. Relief shines in his blue eyes. I don’t think it has anything to do with Draven though. He would just as soon let him rot for what he pulled.
“You all need to go to your dorms and get some rest.” Rebecca points to the door.
