“I think I would like to see this academy.” He holds his arm out.
I move to shake his hand, but he grabs my arm at the elbow firmly so I do the same. He pounds the other fist over his heart three times and bows his head to me. I clumsily mirror his movements and a grin pulls at his lips.
“It is the centaur way to offer this gesture to a warrior and pray to the gods for safe travels.” He nods.
“Thank you. That is more than appreciated.” I turn to Adrian. “How does he do this?”
“I don’t know,” he says before his body goes limp and he nearly crashes to the ground.
“Catch him, Raven,” I shout too late because her reflexes are much better than mine and she was already there.
“What’s happened?” the centaur asks.
“He’s having a vision. They can be pretty intense and pop up in the worst situations.”
When Adrian’s eyes pop back open, there’s a grin on his face. “I know what to do.”
Adrian steps away from Raven and places a hand on Draven’s shoulder.
“What are you doing?” Draven asks, pulling away from Adrian.
“I’m going to slip into your mind and show you the vision so you can replicate it.” Adrian reaches for Draven again, but this time he lets him.
I turn and whisper to Jayden, “Let’s move out of the way so he doesn’t accidentally transport us too.”
“I heard that,” Draven mutters.
Adrian smacks him. “Concentrate.”
They both close their eyes and Draven’s hands glow green with magic before changing quickly through all the colors of the rainbow before turning violet.
“Have you ever seen his magic turn that color before?” I ask Jayden.
“No, it’s always been green.” He pulls me back by the SUV just as Draven’s hands shoot out to the centaur.
Violet light envelops the centaur, and he stamps his hooves in fear as a loud pop fills the air and he’s gone.
I really hope he was sent to the right place because if Adrian is right and he’s important, we’re doomed.

Iturn to Jayden in my seat. “We should call Rebecca before she freaks.”
“I’m sure she’ll figure out who sent him.” Jayden squeezes my thigh.
I’m not so sure though. She did not have a great reaction when we brought Claud through and we were with him.
“I’m gonna call her. It still should be early there.” I reach for my bag and pull the shell out.
“Fine, but tell her it was all your idea.” Jayden shudders.
“I always do,” I singsong. “Rebecca, Halfling Academy.”
The shell vibrates and the mist swirls but it’s like radio silence for a minute. Rebecca comes into view, but everything is garbled.
“Rebecca?”
She spins at the sound of my voice and walks out of the room she’s in. Whatever enchantment she had on her office lifts and sound returns to normal.
