The smell coming from the dishes is heavenly, but we literally just ate a ton of food an hour ago. I don’t know that I can eat anything else right now.
Raven stomps to the dishes and pulls the domes off.
“How the hell are you hungry right now?” I ask her.
“I’m always hungry.” She shrugs and picks up some little finger food.
“Don’t eat it all. I need a shower. I’ll be back.” I wander into one of the bedrooms.
There’s a king-size bed and an armchair in the corner. The en suite is off to the side, and marble floors lead to a huge shower.
Arms wrap around me and I smile as shadows tickle my arms.
“Need help?” Jayden whispers in my ear.
“I think that would be counterproductive,” I say with a giggle.
“Nah, you were injured today. You need help getting out of these clothes.” He kisses and nips at my neck.
“You’re always happy to offer your services to the injured?” I ask glancing over my shoulder at him with a raised brow.
“Only you.” His hands glide over my stomach beneath the hem of my shirt.
I shiver as his warm fingers caress my skin there.
“Jayden, I’m all gross. There’s still blood caked under my shirt.”
“That’s why we’re taking a shower, baby,” he mumbles against my skin.
His hands skate across my skin but he freezes when he gets to the spot where I was gored by the damn bull. “What’s wrong?”
“You have a scar.” He pulls my shirt up over my head and spins me to face him.
I glance down at my body and nearly gag. Blood still stains my skin. I run my fingers over the angry raised line on my gut.
“It’s fine. Battle scars are supposed to be cool, right?” I stare down at the marred skin.
Fucking bull.
“It should have healed completely. We don’t really scar.”
“I need this blood off me,” I say.
I turn to the shower, not wanting Jayden’s eyes on mine right now. It’s just another way now that I will be different from everyone else and I’m really fucking tired of being different all the time.
“Beth, don’t hide from me. There’s nothing wrong with it.” Jayden places his hands on my shoulders.
Ignoring him, I turn the tap to hot and test the water before slipping out of my torn jeans.
No wonder that bitch didn’t think I could afford the suite. I look like I was attacked by a bull. Jayden fumbles with the clasp of my bra and kisses my bare shoulder.
“You’re still the most beautiful girl in this world.” Jayden slides the straps of my bra down my arms.
The bra falls to the floor at my feet and I kick it away with my jeans. He kisses up the side of my neck and sucks my earlobe into his mouth, nipping it gently.
“Jayden, shower,” I hiss.
I pull away from him and step under the spray, but Jayden stalks to me and presses my back against the cold tile.
