“At first he told me to stay away, that it was too dangerous for another alpha to be in his pack lands because of them.” Greyson scrubs a hand over his face.

Adrian wanders over with six water bottles in his hand and sets them on the table between us. I reach for two and hand one to Jayden before cracking mine open and taking a sip.

I didn’t realize how thirsty I was until the icy liquid washes down my throat.

“At first? So does that mean you got him to change his mind?” I screw the lid back on my water as I wait patiently for Greyson’s answer.

“No.” He chuckles and glances at Raven.

“I did.” She taps her fingers against the water bottle lightly.

“Well, what did you say?” I ask, dread filling me at what she might have said to the shifter.

“Look, we already have alliances with two packs that know what we are and they hide just like we do. I don’t think it’s terrible if this pack knows. They seem like they are better than Tristian at least,” Raven says in a rush.

“What was his reaction when you told him you are the daughter of Ares?” I chuckle.

Greyson bursts out laughing. “He said she was delusional.”

“I also told him that his maker sent us to help him and that shut him up real fast.” Raven leans back on the couch.

“You what?” I screech.

She outed Artemis as the goddess of the shifters? I really hope that doesn’t come back to bite us in the ass.

“What? He wasn’t listening.”

“You’re doing the next crazy task she asks from us. This is not on me.” I cross my arms over my chest.

“I didn’t tell him who his creator really was,” Raven huffs.

“If he knows anything about Greek mythology, he will be able to put two and two together.” I sit forward on Jayden’s lap to set the water down on the table and he grunts as his hands on my hips flex.

His cock hardens beneath my ass and I glance over my shoulder at his pinched features. Oops.

“Whatever. The point is that he finally agreed to let us help even though he’s still skeptical about the demigod thing.” Raven throws up her hands.

“We don’t need him to believe that we’re demigods, just that we’re there to help.” I lean back against Jayden’s chest, and he wraps his arms around my waist, holding me in place.

“Well, now that it’s settled, I say we call it a night.” Jayden stands and true to his word doesn’t put me down as he moves to the long hallway again.

Draven stands abruptly. “Where are you going?”

“To bed. I just said that.” Jayden doesn’t even turn to acknowledge him.

“Beth can’t sleep alone in a room with you,” Draven growls.

“When exactly did you become my parent, Draven?” I pat Jayden’s chest and this time he lets me down, but his arm stays securely around my waist.

“I’m just saying you should sleep in the room with the queen beds in it.” He storms in front of us, blocking our path.

“Yeah? And who do you propose sleeps in the other one?” Jayden sneers.

“I will and you can bunk with Adrian.” Draven grins.

“Not gonna happen.” Jayden steps forward. “No offense, Adrian, but I’m not about to share a bed with another dude.”

“None taken. I don’t want you spooning me in the middle of the night either.” Adrian chuckles.
