“I shouldn’t have to see you making out all the time.”
“She almost fucking died, asshole. You didn’t even bother to lift a finger, so excuse me if I don’t give a fuck if you clutch your pearls every time I kiss my girl,” Jayden growls.
I burst out laughing at the pearl clutching comment and pull Jayden closer. “Kiss me again.”
Jayden doesn’t hesitate. His lips crash into mine and his tongue demands entrance. I open my mouth to let him in. Jayden wraps his arms around me and grips my ass. I don’t acknowledge the growl of annoyance or the door slamming beside me I’m so lost in him.
He pours everything into this kiss. His pain and anguish. His fear of losing me and his determination to keep me here with him. I can feel it all as his tongue dances with mine.
“B, he probably needs his face. Let’s not suck it off.” Raven chuckles.
I break the kiss and glare at her. “The next time Greyson makes an inappropriate comment about your tongue, I’m heckling you for it.”
“Whatever.” Raven grins and waves me off.
She gets in the SUV and slams the door behind her.
“She’s a pain in the ass sometimes.” Jayden chuckles.
“Yeah, but she’s my pain in the ass and best friend,” I say and nip his lips playfully.
Greyson rolls down the back window and sticks his head out. “What are we doing? We need to get to Vegas.”
I shake my head and chuckle as Jayden opens my door for me. Greyson isn’t wrong. We need to get far away from here, but I just needed a moment alone with Jayden to show him I’m not going anywhere. Maybe we can do that in Vegas though.
The drive to Vegas is quiet for the most part, but I fidget in my seat uncomfortably. “Are you sure she said Vegas?”
“Beth, you have asked me that a hundred times and the answer is still going to be yes. I’m sure we need to go to Vegas,” Adrian huffs.
The lights of the Las Vegas Strip can be seen from a mile away. The city really is beautiful and a melting pot for every ancient civilization.
As we turn onto the strip, Adrian sits forward. “We need to go to the MGM Grand.”
I shrug as Jayden turns and we head to a parking garage at the back of the huge building. I glare at the huge lion statue as we pass.
“Why does it always have to be lions?” I mumble under my breath.
“We’ll steer clear of the lions, Beth.” Jayden chuckles softly.
“What makes you think they’ll let us steer clear?” I flex my fingers by the hilt of my sword, wanting desperately to keep it with me but knowing I can’t.
It will have to stay in the SUV or I risk freaking out the humans. I wish I could just hide it in my necklace like my whip. It would make life so much easier.
Jayden parks and gives my thigh one last squeeze before jumping out of the SUV and racing to my side of the car to open my door for me.
“You don’t have to do that, you know.” I grasp his hand in mine.
“I know.”
We grab our bags from the trunk and I glance longingly at my sword as I lay it on the floorboard.
Raven pats my shoulder. “I could hide that for you if you want. Well, at least I think I can.”
“Really?” I ask.
Raven nods and grabs my sword, concentrating for a second, and the blade disappears. “Just tell me when you want it and I’ll bring it back.”
Jayden hands her his sword so she can do the same for him and we all make our way through the parking garage.
