Those damn dryads are vicious when they want to be.
“They are a bunch of assholes,” Raven says.
“They do their job protecting the places that are out of bounds though,” Jayden says, opening the door to the dorm building.
I stare at the marble staircase with a grimace. Don’t get me wrong, I love having my own space. Being the only child of Zeus, I get an entire floor to myself.
I just wish it wasn’t on the twelfth floor with no elevator.
We trudge up the stairs to the fifth floor and wait for Raven to grab her things from the Ares floor.
The common room is empty for once, and several of the weapons usually displayed on the wall are missing from their perches. They must be out in the training yard practicing with them.
Ares students’ favorite things are their weapons. Raven rushes down one of the halls that splinter off from the center common room to go grab her things.
Jayden wraps an arm around my waist with his hand resting on my hip. Why is he so touchy-feely all of a sudden when he’s barely spoken to me in a week?
He’s fucking confusing. There’s no one around so it can’t be his possessive alpha bullshit he likes to pull.
“We probably want to stay sober tonight, just in case,” Jayden says, pulling me closer.
“I had no intentions of drinking tonight, Jayden. That would be dumb with everything happening.”
Raven races back down the hall to us with a bag in her hand. She glances between the two of us with a smirk.
“What’s going on?” she asks.
“Nothing?” I say it as a question. “Let’s go.”
I spin around and storm up the stairs. It’s a long walk but with the amount of training we do, I’m not even winded by the time we reach the eleventh floor.
Jayden holds up a finger for Raven before pulling me into his room.
“What are you doing?” I ask as he crowds me.
Jayden cups my cheek and presses his lips to mine in a hungry kiss. I grip his hips, pulling him closer. His tongue teases my lips in a plea to deepen the kiss.
I gasp as his grip tightens on my hip and he deepens the kiss. Our tongues taste and tease as they dance together.
“B, quit making out with Jayden and let’s go get ready,” Raven calls through the door.
“That bitch,” I whisper as we break the kiss.
Jayden chuckles and rests his forehead against mine. “You know if you don’t go, she’s going to break the door down.”
“Yup.”
“You’re not moving,” Jayden whispers.
“You have me trapped against the door, Jayden.”
Jayden takes a step back and his hand falls away from my hip. I turn and open the door, scowling at Raven with her smug grin pointed at me.
“Fuck off,” I say.
I stomp up the stairs to the top floor and push into my room without a backward glance. Raven will follow me. I don’t need to check that she’s there.
“You were making out.” Raven giggles like she’s twelve.
