“I don’t think that’s it,” Adrian says. “Hit it with electricity.”
“You wanna light up like a Christmas tree, fucker?” I smirk and crack my whip.
Electricity crackles over the end as it wraps around his waist. The demon screams, lashing out at the weapon with poison-tipped claws.
“Why isn’t he bursting into flames?” I yell and pull my whip back.
The scent of burned flesh hits my nose but it wasn’t enough to take this bastard down.
“Raven, I think we need to take his head, you want to use your ax or my sword?” I grin at her.
“I want to kill this bastard.” She smirks.
I touch my charm on my neck and step back. I turn to Jayden as Raven swings her ax.
Jayden has the woman up and running toward the empty village we just left.
“Is she going to be okay?” I ask him as he steps next to me.
“Yeah, she should be fine as long as no other demons try to feed on her.” He reaches for my hand and squeezes it as a victorious whoop leaves Raven and the demon crumbles to ash.
“Finally. That bastard was harder to kill than the others,” Adrian says as he grabs his arrows off the ground.
I frown at his use of the word bastard.
Are we rubbing off on him? I’ve never heard him swear so much. We may be a bad influence on the seer.
“C’mon, I have a feeling that this isn’t over with those two assholes. If they thought of it, then other demons did too and no one in Elysium is safe,” I say and storm back to the path.
“It’s not the end, I’m sure,” Adrian says cryptically.
He’s not sharing his vision with us which isn’t uncommon but it’s still frustrating. He knows where we need to go but he isn’t telling.
“We need to hurry. I’m not sure how long the next one will be there,” Adrian says and races away.
“What is he even talking about?” I ask Raven with a frown.
“It has to be something to do with his vision, right?” she asks and jogs after him.
I glance at Jayden and follow Adrian and Raven with a shrug. If it’s a part of his vision, then we should probably hurry. I just wish the rest of us knew what we were getting into.
Jayden jogs up next to me. I touch the lightning bolt on my neck and grip my whip. I don’t like this place at all. It’s become a house of fucking horrors since we got here.
It’s eerily still as we wander through the dense forest. The only sound is our feet crunching on the ground.
“Who are we looking for, Adrian?” I ask.
“A demon,” Adrian says cryptically.
I narrow my eyes at him. He’s not telling me everything.
I jump at the sound of clanging metal. I turn to Jayden with wide eyes as we break into a jog.
“What is that?” I ask with a frown.
“I think someone else is fighting a demon.” Jayden shrugs.
Who in Elysium could be fighting a demon? They aren’t really that corporeal.
