What the fuck did he do besides come after me?
“What are they doing?” I ask, changing the subject to get us back on track.
Adrian grunts, “They are rounding up the humans just like we thought. I think they plan to slaughter them all. The things they were saying were pretty gruesome.”
Raven shudders. “That’s a fucking understatement.”
Jayden runs a hand over his face. “These guys feed on human souls. They are some of the worst demons in the underworld.”
“Well, let’s send them running for the hills.” I flick my whip and call on my crackling electricity. The whip lights up an electric blue and soft gold and I frown. That has never been a color it’s turned before.
“Your power is growing,” Raven comments, staring at my whip.
“I just fried a dude’s junk from behind but didn’t see what color the sparks were on my fingers.” I shift on my feet, crouched behind the still smoking car.
“Nice,” Raven says, her eyes glittering with laughter.
Jayden huffs out a breath. “Can we focus, please?”
I peer over the top of the car and stare down at a large group of demons. Maybe this wasn’t such a great idea after all.
The humans can obviously see our magic, but what choice do we have?
“There are too many demons not to go full weapons on them. If we are seen by the humans and recorded, we are in some deep shit.” I peer over at Adrian. “You got your bow?”
“Yes.” He pulls it out of a bag that does not look big enough to carry such a weapon, and my jaw drops.
“When this is over, I’m gonna need to know where you got that.” I raise a brow at him when he snickers.
“Are we firing at random?” he asks but doesn’t look in my direction.
“No, you take those three.” I point at the three that are the farthest to the right. “It will give you the range you need, right?”
“Should be good and I’ll help if any more get into range.” He knocks an arrow, his expression determined.
“Okay, I’ll take the left with my whip and you two, the center.” I nod to Jayden and Raven. Their weapons have the least range out of the four of us.
“Let us get past you over the car and to the middle before you start firing. I do not want an arrow to the ass,” Raven says with a grimace, staring Adrian down.
“I’m a son of Apollo, I don’t miss,” he growls.
“Still, I don’t want an arrow to the head either.” She glares at him.
“All right, you two get in position.” I roll my eyes at them.
Jayden comes over to my side of the car while Raven takes Adrian’s. Everyone’s bodies are coiled tight, waiting to pounce on the unsuspecting demons.
“Go,” I say just loud enough for them to hear me.
Jayden springs into action, launching himself over the car at the unsuspecting demons.
I flick my whip out, wrapping it around one of the demon’s necks and it explodes into ash where it stands. I turn to move on to the others when it begins to reform almost immediately and a sound like a grating laugh fills the space.
“The underworld is too weak to hold us,” the demon roars.
“Shit,” I yell.
This is going to turn into a shit show if we don’t do something quick.
