I spin on my heel and leave. Dax calls out something behind me but I’m not paying attention. I’m done with these guys who think they can insert themselves into my life without my permission.
Raven jogs to catch up to me and threads her arm through mine. “He’s following us.”
“I can’t stop him from following us around campus, you know that. I have tried,” I huff in exasperation and push the main door open with more force than necessary.
“Where are you going?” Raven asks, grabbing my arm and hauling me back inside. “You have blood all over you, Beth. We are going to the healer, now.”
“Raven, I’m fine,” I say but lean on her a bit as dizziness washes over me.
Shit. Again, I think maybe I do need the healer.
Thundering footsteps come from behind me, making me wince. My head is pounding now that most of the adrenaline has worn off.
Dax picks me up in a bridal hold and I squirm. “Dax, put me fucking down.”
“No, you look like you are about to fall over. I’m taking you to the healer.” His hold tightens as he rounds the corner.
“It’s your fault she’s like this, dumbass,” Raven yells but doesn’t tell him to release me.
“I know that. Which is why I’m carrying her to the healer. I’m trying to help,” he says and kicks the door to the healer’s office open.
The same healer who has helped us several times before rushes over and directs Dax where to set me down.
“You definitely keep things interesting around here, Beth.” The healer smiles, shaking his head.
“This wasn’t a monster. I broke up a brawl and ended up getting injured in the process,” I say, softly wincing when he prods at a tender spot on my spine.
“Now, why would you do that?” the healer asks like a disappointed parent. “It seems the person with the intention to stop idiots from fighting always ends up the one who gets injured the most.”
“I’m starting to see that.” I stiffen as his hand lands on my back, but I manage not to cry out.
The pain of flesh knitting back together is not as bad as the dizziness in my head, but it still stings.
Raven fidgets and looks like she has something to say but bites her lip.
Shit, we forgot something vital when we were packing. When the healer is done, and I feel better. I glance up at him.
“We are headed to the underworld. Do you think you could pack us another medical kit like you did last time?” I ask him and stand up from the bed.
“You’re going to the underworld?” Dax pales.
“Yes, we have problems to deal with there and no, you still aren’t going.” I shake my head and turn back to the healer.
“Give me a few minutes. Also, can I make a request if you are going to see Lord Hades?” the healer asks with a raised brow.
“Sure. We are going to help him so I think that would be fine.” I shrug.
“Now that young Jayden’s magic has grown to the level that it’s creating underworld fire, we may have another accident like with Dax. I would like to know how to heal it.” He bustles over to a cabinet and grabs a few things, placing them in a leather bag.
“Of course. I think Jayden will appreciate being able to train with the fire again as well.” I stroll over to the cabinet and peer over his shoulder.
There’s more of the weird red liquid that’s only for extreme emergencies. The burn cream is there too. I used that for Chimera burns just weeks ago but it feels like it was a lifetime ago now. He adds some bandages and mortal medicine as well.
“This should hold you over while you are in the underworld.” He hands me the bag.
“Thank you.” I nod to the healer. It will definitely help but if I get banged up again like today, I will have to suffer through it.
“You’re welcome. Safe travels.” He waves us off and I jog out the door before Dax can ask any more questions.
