“My thoughts exactly,” I huff.
The door opens and we all turn to Mr. Cross. “What are you doing crowded around my door?”
“Cross, we have some news and a request.” I grimace.
He waves us into his office. It’s cramped compared to Rebecca’s office, with only one chair to sit in, but none of us are inclined to sit.
“What is this news?” Cross asks, moving behind the desk to sit.
Draven scrubs a hand over his face. “I recognized the magic, but it’s much stronger than mine and I tried to call my dad to see if he can help break it, but I can’t get in touch with him.”
“I see. I haven’t been able to contact Poseidon either, but I thought it was due to the lack of salt water nearby,” he grumbles, flopping back in his chair.
“I believe it’s all connected.” I raise a hand in the air like I’m in class.
“Would you care to explain?” Cross asks with a raised brow.
I glance at Draven with a grimace, not particularly wanting to give the blowhard any information he can gossip about to the other students in the school. “It’s a little crowded in here to explain that.”
Draven scoffs and his expression shows hurt. Raven rolls her eyes.
“You are the biggest gossip in the school. It’s no wonder Beth doesn’t want to say anything with you here. You will start a panic with your bullshit. Just like the mob you incited the other day.”
“It’s a valid concern,” Draven says and I glare at him.
“It’s not. It’s stupid, childish bullshit to make him look bad to get what you want,” I snarl.
Cross holds up a hand. “Draven, thank you for trying, but I’m guessing they have a request for me that needs to be kept private. I will see you in class tomorrow.”
“This is bullshit. I can help,” he yells as he storms out of the office, slamming the door behind him.
Raven sighs. “What’s with all the jackasses today?”
“Raven,” Cross admonishes warily.
“What? Beth attracts all the assholes.” She throws her hands up and Adrian stifles a chuckle.
I glare at both of them.
“She’s not wrong.” Adrian shrugs.
“Can we please stop talking about the circling idiots and get back to what we were talking about. End of days shit, remember?” I flop into the chair in front of Cross’ desk with a huff.
“What do you mean the end of days?” Cross sits forward in his chair, suddenly alert.
“Long story short, the items of power have been moved from Greece to the US and we need to find them because the gods are weakening, and someone is trying to rise against them.”
Cross blows out a breath, leaning back in his chair, and scrubs a hand over his eyes. “What makes you think that the items of power have been moved?”
“We found Delphi when we were looking for the Hermes students,” I say. “It was in Arizona.”
I shudder, remembering the rhyming fountain. Adrian snickers, probably remembering the same. I narrow my eyes at him.
Yup. I’m surrounded by jackasses.
Raven elbows him in the ribs. “Anyway, we found Delphi and the wilds in the US, and we think that whoever moved the items of power might have recreated the same places in the US where the items would be geographically in the States. We just need some ancient maps of geography texts to map out where they might be.”
Cross is up so fast it startles me. “That is quite the theory. It’s a wonder you are only in your first year in my class, both of you,” Cross praises.
