Hades turns to Adrian. “Did you have a nice chat with the Oracle of Delphi?”

Adrian nods. He doesn’t say anything but he’s probably already seen this.

Hades pulls a quiver of arrows out next. “Your arrows always ring true, but are they indestructible and will they come back to you no matter what?”

“No, sir.” Adrian shakes his head.

“These will, but I’m guessing you already knew that. You are a very strong seer and that is a burden in itself. This way you will never run out of arrows.”

“Thank you, Lord Hades.” Adrian takes the quiver and pulls an onyx arrow out, inspecting it.

“What do you give the demigod who has it all?” Hades muses as he turns to Jayden.

“I don’t need a gift, Father. I was just glad we could save the underworld from the Titans.” Jayden shakes his head.

“Nonsense,” Hades says and claps Jayden on the back.

Hades glows slightly and Jayden glows along with him.

“You are already more powerful than most of my children so I just gave you a little boost.” Hades grins.

“Thank you, Father, but we would really like to get back to the academy. My friends are starving.” Jayden ducks his head.

I forgot my hunger until the words leave his mouth. My stomach growls and Hades chuckles before we are spinning through space and time again.

When I open my eyes again, the parking lot of Halfling Academy stands before me. The ground rumbles and I spin on my heel, seeing that Hades kept his word and Claud is right there with us.

He covers his one blue eye.

“Bright,” he whimpers.

“I’m sorry, buddy. You will get used to it.” I clap him on his knee.

I spin around and tap my lightning bolt charm when a commotion sounds behind me. Rebecca is running to us, a weapon in hand.

“Get behind me, students. I don’t know how a cyclops got in here, but I will remove it.”

Claud cowers at her words. Tears fill his one eye.

“Stop, Rebecca. He’s our friend,” I shout.

Lightning crackles on my fingertips as I hold them out.

Jayden steps forward. “He helped us in the underworld. He’s been given leave by Hades to help us protect the academy.”

“You four have been through an ordeal, haven’t you?” Rebecca asks with a raised brow.

“We have, but so has Claud. He just wants a place to live that isn’t Tartarus,” I say with a shrug.

Rebecca sighs. “Maybe he can help in the forges.”

“See, Claud, I told you that we would find a place for you,” I say.

Raven grumbles, “We need food, Headmistress.”

My stomach growls and I nod my agreement. I don’t remember when the last time I ate something was and my stomach is rebelling.

“Yes, of course. You…” Rebecca points at a member of the administration. “Make sure the cyclops—”
