“That’s easy for you to say, you see everything,” I say with a growl.

A loud snap fills the air and the magic on the cave mouth disappears.

“Look, the magic is gone now. I can go in.” I wave a hand at the cave.

“No need,” Jayden steps out of the cave.

All the air whooshes out of me at the sight. He’s not hurt at all, just a bit dusty. A screech in the distance fills the air.

Hecate, she knows we have the helm. This ought to be interesting.

Hades’ huge form appears in front of Jayden, a smile on his face and his white-blond hair swept back from his forehead.

“Good job, son. And not a minute too soon.” He pats Jayden on the shoulder.

Dizziness washes over me as we are all spun out of time and space.

I wish gods would warn us before taking us with them in their god travel.

I stumble as we appear back on our feet in front of Hecate and Hermes who are still trading magical blows.

“Hecate,” Hades roars.

The bellow sends ice through my veins even if it’s not directed at us.

Hecate spins toward us, fear and loathing filling her eyes.

“Lord Hades, I was just trying to stop Hermes from stealing your helm and releasing the Titans,” Hecate says, looking demur.

“How stupid do you think I am, Hecate?” Hades strolls casually to the goddess.

Typhon is still thrashing on the ground and with a flick of Hades wrist is thrown back into the pit.

The monster bellows with rage, but as Hades reaches for the helm in Jayden’s hand and puts it on, the roar turns to anguish and the cracks in the underworld seal up tight as if they were never there.

Hades is the underworld so he can fix it as he sees fit. Pretty cool.

Shadowy chains wrap around Hecate’s whole body, leaving her unable to move or cast magic.

I scan the area and find Claud in an outcropping of rock again, hiding from the god of the underworld.

“This isn’t over,” Hecate spits. “Just because you caught me doesn’t mean this will stop.”

“I’m sure it isn’t, but you will play no part in everything that is to come.” Hades flicks his wrist and sends Hecate screaming and cursing into the pit.

I turn to Hermes. “Hecate messed with Cross’ lake at the academy. We couldn’t place the magic before, but I’m sure now that it was her. Can you help him?”

“I’ll do my best, but it took a lot to get here to help you all with Hecate,” Hermes says and scrubs a hand over his face.

“That’s all we can ask for; he’s weakening because there’s no salt water.” I touch my charm on my necklace, sending my whip away into the ether.

“Has he gone to the Poseidon floor to recharge?” Hermes asks and I slap my forehead at our stupidity.

Of course there would be sea water on Poseidon’s floor of the dorms.

“No, he hadn’t before we left, but it’s also forbidden for teachers to go to the dorms,” I say.

Jayden scratches at his chin. “I’m sure that Rebecca would allow it until we can get the magic removed from his lake.”
