“Have you tried to push yourself?” Adrian cuts in. His eyes are shining with curiosity.

“Not really, no.” I pick up my fork and push the food around on my plate.

“You also haven’t been training as much the last few days.” Raven points her fork at me.

“That would be Dax’s fault.” I don’t look up from my plate. The guy refuses to leave me alone and it’s to the point where I hide in my dorm whenever I’m not in class.

“I know, the big dumbass,” she growls.

Adrian taps his fingers on the table to get our attention back on the topic at hand. “Why would you three be gaining more magic when it seems others are struggling?”

“I wonder if it was a gift from Zeus.” I glance up at them with wide eyes. He didn’t tell us he was going to increase our magic. I wouldn’t put it past the king of the gods to do things to increase our chances of success though.

“That could be possible. He would want to do what he can without angering the fates,” Adrian says thoughtfully.

“Okay, but that doesn’t explain why everyone else seems to be drained.” I stab a piece of pork on my plate angrily.

What the hell is happening to everyone?

“I don’t think we are going to figure out what is happening right now.” Adrian runs a rough hand through his hair.

“I think your magic is fine. I think it’s an omen about where we will be going next. I just wish it didn’t include Jayden,” I groan.

“The vision clearly showed him with us,” Adrian says softly as he flops back down in the chair.

“Why does it have to be Jayden every time?” I slump over the table with a groan.

“He’s powerful and the only other child of the original three.” Raven pats my hand as if to console me, and I glance up and stick my tongue out at her.

“I’m fucking powerful,” I growl.

“If we go against the vision, then we could fail,” Adrian says.

“I know. I get it. It just doesn’t mean I have to like it,” I grumble, sitting back up and stabbing a grilled vegetable and popping it into my mouth.

“Gods, when are we going to catch a break?” Raven cracks her knuckles loudly, making me flinch. That’s just weird.

“Zeus said that thing will get worse. I don’t think we are going to get a break until we find out who is bringing monsters back and what they want.” I shake my head.

“I already know what they want, B. War… they want war,” Raven growls angrily. If anyone knows about war, it’s a child of Ares.

I have to agree with her too. If they are going to all this trouble, then that is the only thing they could possibly want. They want a war and to defeat the gods and they obviously think they are capable.

But can we stop them? The fate of the world may be in our hands. Gods help us all.

“How did we get here early?” I raise a brow at Raven who shrugs.

I have been antsy ever since we figured out that students’ magic is weakening, and the jumpier I get, the worse I feel.

I slump into my seat behind Raven as other students begin to filter into the classroom. A growl sounds beside me, and I turn in time to see an Athena boy run in the other direction and Dax fold himself into the seat beside me.

“What did you do?” I ask, shaking my head, then I lean down to grab my book from my bag.

“I wanted to sit here.” He shrugs like scaring the crap out of a student so he can sit by me isn’t completely insane.

“Dax, you need to fucking stop,” I whisper.
