Raven takes a step forward. “Motherfucker. He’s about to get roasted,” she whispers.
Touching my lightning bolt charm at my neck, I call my whip but don’t activate the power. It will do just fine without it. I don’t want to barbeque the idiots, yet.
I flick my whip out, wrapping it around Dax’s ankle, and pull it back, but he barely stumbles. Stupid battle magic.
“Dax, stop,” I scream as Jayden flicks his chains out to wrap around the big man’s hands.
A pain-filled roar splits the air and the scent of burning flesh fills the clearing. Fuck, Jayden could have at least changed them back to shadows before he hit Dax with them.
Raven sprints to Jayden and tackles him to the ground with her blade at his throat.
“Stop it,” she bellows in his face and the flames die. Adrian runs to Dax as soon as they die out. He’s on the ground, moaning in agony as he rolls around.
“What the fuck were you thinking?” I turn on Jayden.
He’s breathing heavily, glaring down at Dax as if ready to go at it again. He doesn’t turn to acknowledge my words and it pisses me off even more.
“He attacked me, Raven. I was defending myself,” He says, shaking his head before stomping off.
Fucking stubborn men.
Adrian can’t get close to Dax as he continues to roll on the ground, screaming. “Dax, we gotta get you to the healer,” he says softly.
“How bad is it?” I stomp toward them.
“His flesh is melting off.” Adrian grimaces. The Apollo seer is not a healer like some of his siblings are and his skin has turned green.
“Okay, big guy,” I say, inching toward Dax. “Let’s get you to the healers. They will know what to do.”
Raven stomps over and puts her foot on Dax’s chest, slamming him in the dirt. “You need to go to the healer, bro. Get up.”
“Raven, is that really necessary? You could hurt him worse.” I chew my lip, hoping that she didn’t just break one of his ribs as well.
“He’s a big dumb idiot that needs to stop.” She throws her hands in the air, glaring at me.
“Dax, can you walk?” I ask, and he nods as Raven and I pull him up using his elbows.
His hands are completely useless, and I hope the healers can do something about that because I would hate it if he could never use his hands again because he was fighting over me.
“Fuck, he went too far,” Dax mumbles as we help him stumble to the healers.
“You went at him with a fucking battle-ax, Dax. I would say you both went too fucking far,” I grumble.
Dax frowns as he stares at me. What the fuck is he looking at me like that for? He’s the idiot that fought the son of Hades and never thought it was a dumbass move.
“You won’t talk to me and it’s all his fault.” He stares into my eyes with that damned kicked puppy expression.
“No, Dax, it’s your fault. You need to stop all this bullshit.” I sigh.
“What? How is it my fault?” His head snaps back like I just smacked him even though my hand is still firmly wrapped around his elbow, leading him through the forest.
I do my best not to look down at the charred flesh on his wrists. I nearly gag at the blackness surrounding them like shackles.
“You kissed me without my permission or even talking to me about it first, Dax.” I shake my head. He should fucking know better than to just manhandle people like that.
“It was an accident, a heat of the moment thing.” He hangs his head in shame.
Well, at least there’s that. Now that I have explained it to him, maybe he will stop the bullshit with Jayden and we can go back to being friends.
