Draven strides over.
Well, shit. That just makes my already crappy morning even better.
“There you are. I went to check out the lake and it is definitely the same person who kidnapped us.” He laces his fingers behind his head casually, but his eyes are troubled.
“Fucking Hades. But why?” I glance between him and Raven.
“The only thing I can think of is that they want to weaken as many children of the original three as possible.” Raven places a plate of eggs on her tray and moves down the line.
That girl always has food on the brain, but I follow her lead. We need fuel for whatever is to come. We fill our plates and head to my table with Draven following behind us.
Can you break the magic that’s weakening him?” I ask over my shoulder.
“I don’t think I can. It’s a lot stronger than me,” he grumbles.
That must be painful to admit for an egomaniac. I smirk.
Raven must think the same thing because she snorts. “Is it your dad’s magic?” she asks.
“Of course not. Why would he abduct his own children?” he asks, offended.
“Well then, who could it be?” She sets her tray down on the table a little too loudly.
“I don’t know but I’m going to see if I can contact him for help.” He moves to sit at our table and Raven holds her hand out to block him.
“Thanks for the info, but you’re still a jackass.”
“What?” he asks, turning to me with pleading eyes.
I shake my head. “You should have thought about being banished from my life before you gossiped with your friends about me actually giving you a chance.”
“But Beth?” he whines.
I drop my tray on the table harder than necessary and cross my arms over my chest. “Do you really want another public display, Draven?”
“Fine, I will see if I can contact my dad and get him to help.” He storms off.
I sit down with a huff. “Classes haven’t even started and I already have a headache.”
“Draven’s pushy ass gave me a headache too,” Raven grumbles.
We eat in silence and get through the first couple classes without another problem and head out to the clearing for magical training. There are students still glaring at us like yesterday, so we pick a spot away from the crowds of students.
I scan the clearing, not wanting anyone to see us, especially Draven and Dax. I have had it with the boys at this school for sure.
Touching my lightning bolt on my necklace, the whip unfurls in my hand, and I face off with Raven and her sword.
“You better not zap me, B.” She holds her sword in position.
“This is magic training, Raven.” I shake my head, grinning at her. “How am I supposed to work on control with you?”
“I don’t care. It hurts when you zap me.” She swings her blade experimentally.
“And that wouldn’t hurt if it connected with me?” I raise an eyebrow. “Your magic is literally battle and strength. I need some kind of advantage.”
“Fine,” she growls. “But only what you did to Dax the other day.”
“Perfect. That’s all I planned to do anyway.” I flick my whip out at her and she jumps back, easily dodging it.
