A groan leaves my lips at the flavor bursting across my tongue.

Jayden makes a strangled sound, and a grin crosses Artemis’s face.

“Can we get back on track?” Jayden asks.

He’s in more of a hurry than usual.

“Right. Do you know where the Hermes students are being held?” I ask after swallowing another bite of nachos.

“I’m not certain, but I was hunting in the Appalachian Mountains and felt a disturbance there. I discussed it with Apollo, and he agreed that I should talk to you all since you were on your way to find the missing students.” Artemis says thoughtfully.

I lean back in my chair. Huh, Apollo may not be such a pain after all.

Artemis continues. “There is immense power hiding something there, and every time we try to get to the cave, we are stopped by some big beasty that we need to kill. Unfortunately, they keep coming back.”

“That seems to be happening a lot,” I grumble. “They won’t stay fucking dead.”

“Yes, I have noticed the same. My hunters are out hunting the monsters that are going after all the demigods,” Artemis says softly.

Her eyes flash angrily as her brows scrunch down in an angry frown.

I shake my head. “We have killed so many monsters on this trip and before we ever left the academy. We just want to get through this so we can get back with the Hermes students and whatever else the people who started this are hiding.”

“I think you know what else they are hiding there, Beth. They have the spark and are using it to hide the Hermes students and trying to ruin everything and destroy the academy,” Artemis says.

“We have to stop them,” Raven says with a furrowed brow.

Our friends are there, and we have to do something. We can’t let them win.

“Wewillstop them,” Jayden says with a conviction I don’t feel.

Artemis stands. “I have faith in all of you. Go to the Appalachian Mountains to the cave that feels like god magic and save your friends. I can’t interfere any more than that. The fates will fuck with you all if we help too much. I’ve paid for lunch. You all fuel up. Be sure to stop in Graceland when you go through Memphis.”

She winks and disappears.

“What the actual fuck,” I say, looking at the empty spot where she’d been.

I have so many more questions, but I won’t be getting answers.

“Why would we stop at Graceland?” Greyson asks warily.

“Because a goddess told us to?” I shrug, not really understanding it myself, but not really wanting to give up on the subtle hint she just gave us.

“She said she couldn’t tell us more than her dropped hint to hit up Graceland, so I’m extremely curious as to what we’ll find there. There’s gotta be something there. She wouldn’t have told us to go if there wasn’t.”

I put another chip in my mouth.

“Do we have to worry about more antics from Apollo, do you think?” Greyson asks, and I nearly choke.

Fuck, I hope we don’t have to worry about that again.

Raven shudders. “No more rhyming, please, for the love of the gods. I can’t fucking handle that again.”

“Agreed. That was awful.” Jayden shakes his head, picking up his drink and taking a gulp.

A TV over the bar catches my eye. There is grainy cell phone video of the zoo chaos.

The cyclone hurling out of thin air away from me and knocking into the jaguar then spinning back around us into the bear.
