I fall.

My pulse thrashes beneath my skin. My shoes skid over the street before Greyson’s hands land on my arms, pulling me back into the car on top of him.

“Shit. Sorry,” I yell as my knee connects with his groin.

He groans.

I try to scramble off of him, but I bump into Jayden. This is fucking awkward, and my damn shoes are smoking.

I kick my shoes off because they’re burning my feet.

“Got them.” Raven hops back through the window and scrunches her nose up at the scene inside the car. “What the hell is going on?”

There are tears in Greyson’s eyes, and guilt eats at me. I didn’t mean to knee him in the balls. I climb between the seats and sit in the back with Raven.

“I accidentally kneed him in the balls when he pulled me in the car.” I grimace as Raven leans up to the front seat.

“You okay, baby?” she asks, but the laughter in her voice belies her concern.

“I’ll be fine,” Greyson croaks, and Raven bursts into a fit of giggles.

“What the fuck, B. Your hand.” She grabs my hand which is steadily bleeding.

“What?” Jayden looks in the rearview mirror at us. “Fuck.”

“It’s a fucking scratch, guys. It’s how I lost my balance and nearly fell to my death.” I grimace as Raven tears part of her shirt and wraps it around my palm.

We should have brought first-aid supplies.

I peer over at Raven. “Holy shit, Raven. You have a metal fucking feather in your damn shoulder. Jayden, when we stop for gas, we need a basic first-aid kit.”

We can’t use what the healer gave me except in dire circumstances, and the cream only helps with burns.

“I have a what?” Raven looks down at her shoulder and yanks the damn thing out like it’s nothing. Her blood sprays.

“Fucking idiot. You weren’t supposed to do that,” I yell.

Raven shrugs. “Baby, can I have your shirt until we stop, please? Blood is gushing from my shoulder.”

She says it so casually that I facepalm.

How did I become best friends with a complete lunatic?

“You’rewhat?” Greyson turns in his seat and curses before stripping his shirt over his head and handing it to her.

Raven smiles, and I don’t miss her expression as her eyes travel over his chest and abs.

“Raven, you’re fucking bleeding. Focus,” I snap at her.

Greyson grins while his eyes glow bright, his wolf close to the surface and seeing that his mate is injured.

That’s my best guess as to why his eyes are glowing.

“We’re almost to Barstow,” Jayden says. “I just wonder if we should stay there to get the roof fixed or keep moving.”

“I think we should keep moving after we stop for gas. We can get some duct tape to patch the holes for now and then get someone to fix this when we get back,” I say, eyeing the holes in the roof.

There aren’t many, and we’ll be going through mostly desert for a while.
