His eyes blaze with fury. What shocks me the most though is his half-naked state. I travel my gaze down his broad shoulders and over the hard planes of his chest. His tan skin glows under the fluorescent light.
He runs a hand over his dark, buzzed hair as he stares at me with a smirk.
Not the time for this, Beth.
“This has nothing to do with you, Dax. Back off,” Jayden growls.
“The hell it doesn’t. She clearly told you not to touch her. I don’t know why she hasn’t zapped your ass yet,” Dax snarls and attempts to push his way between us.
Jayden blocks him with his shadows. They swirl up his arms, writhing angrily as he glares at Dax.
“Jayden, you are making a scene. Let me fucking go,” I growl.
Finally, his fingers loosen, and I wrench my arm away from him, spinning away from all the testosterone in the room and the sight of Dax’s naked chest.
“You’re a major douche, Jayden. You seriously need to learn how to talk to women,” Dax growls, and an “oof” sounds in the room.
Did Jayden just punch him? Do I really care?
Rolling my eyes, I stroll out the door and let it slam shut behind me. I’m done with this crap. I need answers, and the headmistress is the only one who has them.
The admin building’s turrets tower high in the sky, and the Greek columns stand proudly in the front of the building. It’s practically a castle in the middle of the Southern California mountains.
“B, wait up.”
I turn back to the door. Raven is rushing out with Dax and Jayden sulking behind her.
“Dax, go put a shirt on,” Raven tells him. “The headmistress didn’t request your presence.”
He scowls at a brooding Jayden. “I’m just going to walk you guys over there. Classes and training are canceled for the rest of the day, and some people don’t know how to keep their hands to themselves.”
“Fuck off, Dax,” Jayden growls.
Gods, I can’t get away from the dick measuring.
The walk across campus is tense and silent. The guys continue to eye each other with distaste. It’s driving me crazy.
Dax’s arm brushes mine as he stands a little too close.
With a growl, Jayden shoves him away from me. “Don’t fucking touch her.”
“I think that’s for her to decide.” He grins, winking at me as he pushes Jayden back out of the way.
The shoving is getting seriously annoying.
“Stop it. Both of you,” I yell in frustration.
I grab Raven’s arm and pull her with me to the stone steps of the admin building.
“The big-dick energy they’re giving off over you is off the charts, B and that’s kind of gross because Dax is my half brother.” Raven’s disgusted expression makes me laugh.
“I’m not even entertaining the idea of either of them. I got burned once. I am not in any hurry to go through that again.” Reaching out, I pull the door open.
I wait for Raven before following her inside and letting the door shut behind me. Jayden can open the door for himself when he’s done bickering with Dax like a little girl.
“Beth, wait.” Jayden slams open the door as he races down the hall to us.
It’s quiet here, just like the halls of the academic building earlier, and a chill goes up my spine. What the hell is happening here?
