“You have completely forgotten about the Hermes kids and our mission to rescue them,” Raven says slowly. “There’s some kind of magic at play here.”
I want to care about what she’s saying, but why would I ever leave here?
Everything is great, and Jayden and I are together without…
Shit.
The memories of Jayden and Mia come back in a rush. I freeze.
Motherfucker.
My eyes widen in horror, and I take a step away from Jayden and wrap my arms around myself, feeling suddenly cold. “Fuck, we were magically drugged. We need to get out of here.”
What the fuck did I let happen? How could this fucking happen?
My mind whirls as we all stare at each other.
Jayden looks confused, and a weight crushes down into my chest. Pulling away from him was a gut reaction to the memories.
This place, and that fucking drugged pink drink, made us do things we wouldn’t normally do, but it’s not his fault.
We go grab our bags and head for the elevator. I don’t know what kind of monsters we may be dealing with here, but we need to get out.
“We just going to walk out the front doors?” Raven asks, raising an eyebrow at me.
“How else do you suggest we get out of here?” I ask with a shrug.
Raven chews her lip. “It doesn’t seem like this is a place that you leave once you get here. It’s designed so that you can come in but never leave.”
“It does give me some major ‘Hotel California’vibes.”
We all look at Greyson with raised eyebrows.
“What? I listen to classic rock sometimes.”
The elevator dings, and we step out into the lobby where the bellhop is waiting for us.
“What are you doing?” he asks angrily.
“We’re leaving. We have a mission to complete,” I say, trying to sidestep him, but he gets in my way.
“A mission? That doesn’t sound like fun at all. Why don’t you stay here, and you will never have to worry about anything again?” He grins. “Let me get you all another drink and take your bags back up to your rooms for you.”
“Sorry, we have to go,” Jayden says, coming to stand next to me. “There are people counting on us. Lives at stake.”
“You, out of all of them, should want to stay. You can be with your love here and never have to worry about outside interference.”
How the fuck does this guy know that? Andlove?
He has got to be mistaken, but Jayden doesn’t deny the words.
Before I can open my mouth Jayden folds his arms over his chest and glares at the man. “I would rather work to gain her trust back than have her here drugged on whatever magic you used to lower inhibitions and make her forget all the bad things that have happened.”
“You cannot leave,” the man yells.
“What is going on here?” A woman with obsidian hair and wearing a long red dress saunters up to us. The power pouring off her makes me pause. “Frank, we do not yell at our guests.”
The man, Frank, lowers his eyes at her chastisement. “Mistress Kate, they are trying to leave. I was telling them that they can’t.”
