“Who in their right mind would come out here willingly?” Raven jogs beside me, kicking at a bone that lines the path.

“No one. That’s why the murderous hags have to use their siren song on them to lure them because one look or sniff of this place would have most turning back and running far and fast.” I grimace, wishing I had something to plug my nose with.

Gods, this is nasty.

“Okay, what’s the plan?” Raven asks just as the guys step into the mouth of the cave.

“Storm the cave and start swinging?” I shrug because that’s about the only plan I have.

The guys are already inside, and I don’t want to leave them in there for long.

We race to the cave, careful not to touch any bones or anything that looks questionable. There are a few dark spots in the sand that look disturbingly like blood and gore which I do my best not to think about.

“Oh, you are a pretty one. What’s your name?” A silky female voice comes from the cave, and I crane my neck to see inside.

A girl who looks eerily similar to me is running her hands up Jayden’s chest while he just stands there in a daze.

“Are they able to change their appearance? I don’t remember hearing that in the stories of the sirens,” I whisper to Raven.

She’s glaring at her own doppelganger, rubbing herself all over Greyson like a cat in heat.

“I don’t give a fuck what they can do because they are gonna be dead in a minute. Get your skanky paws off my wolf.” Raven charges in, materializing her swords mid run.

The sirens both shriek in alarm, jumping back, but we charge them.

“Help us, my love. The awful females want to hurt us.” The one who looks like me wails to Jayden, who turns on his heel and brandishes his obsidian blade.

“Jayden, snap out of it,” I beg. “It’s me.”

He charges at me. He’s much bigger than I am, and the blow to my sword reverberates up my arm, causing my teeth to clack together. I can’t take my attention off Jayden for a second to see what’s happening with Raven, but a snarl fills the air. Raven shouts in alarm.

“You will not hurt them. I will kill you first,” Jayden says, his eyes glazed over.

He’s still under their spell even though they aren’t singing. Jayden spins his sword, lashing out toward my middle, and I jump back before he can cut me in half.

He’s not playing around. He really does want to kill me.

Well, shit.

“We need a better plan, Raven.” I dodge another blow and send a bolt of electricity at him.

It’s not enough to kill him, but maybe I can stun him out of their spell.

Jayden growls, taking a menacing step forward.

“I’m all ears on a way out of this that doesn’t involve maiming the guys,” she shouts back.

Loud clapping and girlish giggles fill the space, and I’m momentarily distracted when one of the sirens yells, “This is fun.”

I am going to enjoy killing these bitches.

All the air is knocked out of me as Jayden knocks me to the ground and lands on top of me. He grabs at my hands, roughly holding my wrists in one of his.

An idea starts to form as he pulls a knife from nowhere. I have only seconds to decide if this is genius or unbelievably stupid. Our faces are only inches apart. It’s now or never.

I crush my lips to his.

A woman screams just as Jayden’s eyes widen, clearing the enchantment he was under, and he kisses me back with everything he has.
