“I use other ways to talk to him,” Raven says.
“How do you talk to him?” I ask, confused.
I don’t have anyone outside of the academy I can call, but it would be good information to have.
I keep reminding myself that there is so much about this world that I need to learn about. My mythology classes in high school were definitely not enough.
“I have a mirror that will connect to him in my room. It will call anyone, but it’s huge, and I can only call him from my room. There’s also Iris’s messages, but I haven’t used those with him.” Raven doesn’t glance up as she continuously plucks at the grass.
“Why not?” I ask with a frown.
“Yeah, I’m going to talk to him through the rainbow goddess who also happens to be the messenger of the queen of the gods.” She shakes her head.
“Shit, I didn’t even think of that. Yeah, we will steer clear of Iris if at all possible,” I say with a sigh.
I have never met the evil step monster, but I have no plans to either. She is infamous for trying to torture Zeus’s children with other women. She couldn’t punish him directly, so she punished them.
I’m not looking forward to the day when our paths cross. I like my head right where it is, thank you.
Raven shrugs. “I’m just always afraid I’m going to catch him in a bad situation.”
“Like the shower.” I giggle.
“Trust and believe I have no problems catching that man in the shower. Damn. He is absolutely gorgeous. The only problem I have with that is that I’m not actually there to capitalize on it.” She smirks.
When we met Greyson at a party at Halloween, she was totally freaked out by him. He’s a shifter, which I still have a hard time wrapping my brain around.
Within a second of seeing her, he said she was his fated mate, which freaked her out.
“Okay, okay, enough about your sex life and jumping your boyfriend in the shower. I guess we can go talk to Jayden now.” I push up off the ground and dust the nonexistent dirt off the ass of my skirt.
“OMG, finally. Let’s go.” Raven jumps to her feet and dusts herself off as well before leading the way to the training yard.
She’s rushing a little too excitedly. She is way too invested in Jayden and me, and it’s driving me a bit crazy.
When we get there, I stop dead in my tracks. My mouth hangs open at what’s in front of me.

“Not fair,” I breathe out.
Raven elbows me in the side. “Girl, if you don’t want anyone to think you have it bad for Jayden, you might want to close your mouth and wipe the drool from your chin.”
“I am not drooling.” I glare at her, but the sight before me quickly takes back my attention.
Jayden is glistening with sweat as he spars with Dax, and they both are shirtless. Jayden’s abs and chest are on full display. White-blond hair travels down his belly button into his workout shorts in the most delicious happy trail.
Raven chuckles. “You are still staring.”
“He’s fucking shirtless, Raven. What do you expect?” I whisper, never taking my eyes off him.
Shit. I’m in so much trouble.
All eyes are on Jayden and Dax as they strike out at each other with swords in a dance unlike I have ever seen. They both are excellent with a sword.
That isn’t what most of the attention is on though. It should be illegal for the two of them to be shirtless like this.
“Every girl on campus is drooling right now.”
