But I’m on high alert now.

“There are vengeful gods and goddesses. Who could we be dealing with?” I still can’t find Raven, and I start to panic. “Where are they?”

“I don’t know. They were just right there.” Jayden points across the room, and I scan the back wall.

Maybe there’s something about the wall. Does it hide wherever they’re taking the humans, and now I suspect where they have Raven and Greyson.

“Come on. I think there might be magic against the back wall over there.” I grab Jayden’s hand and pull him with me through the gyrating crowd.

Several men smile at me, but Jayden growls at my back, making the guys look away.

I can’t help the grin on my face as I look up at him over my shoulder. “You’re all growly.”

“They can all fuck off. You’re mine.” He kisses my temple, and I love the feel of his lips on my skin.

“Jayden, we need to focus.” I giggle as he trails his lips down to my neck. “Is the magic getting to you?”

“The magic in here? No.Youare getting to me. I haven’t been able to touch you the way I really want to in months. I’m going to take advantage of every second that you allow it.” He exhales, ruffling my chestnut hair.

His hands snake back around my lower abdomen, and I groan.

“Making up for lost time, are you? How about we put a pin in that until we get Raven and Greyson back and find out what’s stealing the humans, hmm?” I turn, brushing my lips over his in a soft, chaste kiss.

“Fuck. Fine.” He straightens but doesn’t remove his hands from my waist in a clear message to any guy who thinks to even look at me.

I shake my head, smiling. He’s being so possessive, and I secretly can’t help but love it.

We dance our way to the back wall, and the magic buzzes beneath my skin angrily.

“There’s something here.” I nod to Jayden.

“Yeah, it feels like a ward of some kind. I don’t think it’s meant to keep us out though. Just a warning system for when someone gets close.”

Jayden’s hand on my back is comforting as we cross the ward.

To anyone else, it looks as if we walked into a wall.

I chuckle. “Why do I feel like I should have run through that like the train station inHarry Potter?”

The room looks the same as on the other side.

“They’re all just dancing?” Jayden asks.

What the fuck is happening here?

“Heroes are not supposed to be here,” a lyrical voice calls out from my right.

I flinch, turning to see a dark-haired woman dressed in a white Grecian gown with gold accents. She’s obviously a goddess of some kind, but I’m not sure of what.

I shrug. “We’re just looking for our friends and investigating the disappearance of humans.”

Why bother lying?

“The mortals in this place have gotten out of hand. They need to be punished for thinking they are better than even the gods.” The woman scoffs at the end.

She does realize that to humans, the Greek gods are a myth, right?

“Which goddess are you?” Jayden asks, glancing to me out of the corner of his eye.
