I end up busting the window I was looking through and then bashed in another on the ground floor as I quickly run back around to the front of the house. I needed them looking in my direction, not hers. Never hers.
“The opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.” – Sun Tzu
When I make it back to the front of the house, I jump right into one of their unlocked trucks. I look around, thinking I might have to hotwire it but no, the keys are right there in the visor. At least they were predictable, dumb bastards.
I turn the key and start to rev the engine loud enough to get their attention. When I see some of them run towards me, I take off like a bat out of Hell down the long driveway. Looking in the rear-view mirror, I see a truck skidding onto the road behind me. It looks like there are two in the cab and two standing in the truck bed. That’s ok. I brought my little bag of tricks with me. Four guys were going to be easy pickings for me tonight.
“Thus, the expert in battle moves the enemy, and is not moved by him.”- Sun Tzu
I lead them about a half mile away from the house. Just enough distance as to not draw attention from those that I leftbehind. Suddenly, I pull on the E-brake, sending the truck I’m in swerving to the side where the driver side door is hidden from the incoming nuisance.
Opening the door, I quickly tuck and roll before the truck even comes to a full stop and run for the tree line to wait. Less than a minute later, their truck comes screeching to a halt behind the one I was just in. The two jackasses in the back leap out and come around to the driver’s side, opening the door to take a little peak inside. Idiots. Now is when I lay on my assault.
“Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt.” – Sun Tzu
My little bag of tricks is exactly as it sounds. Little bit of this, little bit of that, and a whole lot of‘holy fuck, where’d you get that?!’
Well, let’s just say, after the fall of mankind, I decided to raid an armory where I used to be stationed not too far from here. The military base was overrun with the dead and it wasn’t liketheywere going to need it. I wait patiently, silently, for an opening then make my move.
The adrenaline rush pulls my mind to the past. To what one man is capable of when pushed too far. Especially when that man has a fuck ton of awesome shit in his bag of tricks to help his maniacal ass. I give you exhibit number one. Lobbing from my hand, into the cab of the truck I took. Just a little grenade, with a whole lotta...
BOOM!
The grenade detonates in the truck cabin, where both of the fuck nuggets just stood their staring at it like it was fireworks on the fourth of July. Only now instead of pretty little sparkles falling to the ground, it’s their body parts.
God bless America
This makes the two remaining dingbats exit their truck tosurvey the damage. The sudden surprise of how I just took out their buddies making them incompetent. They didn’t even take out any weapons for crying out loud. It’s like theywantto make this easy on me. I pick up my M16 rifle and take them both out in succession.
I know I'm running out of time so I jump into the other truck, spin around and speed back to the cabin. I know there are still four more that I need to take care of so I need another distraction. My hands itching at the thought of getting Aly into my arms and away from these fuckwits. I decide on thegood enoughmethod. Since the abandoned truck worked so well last time, I decide to use it again, with just a few minor adjustments.
Placing the truck in neutral, I slow it down just a little and then tuck and roll just before the cabin comes into view. Just like I imagined, the truck glides up to the porch, stopping just shy of hitting it. I wait and see the two guys, who were waiting on the porch, walk down when no one exits the vehicle. Game time.
There’s no lights out here. Even if the power grid were still functional, we’re so far off the main road that there’s no street lights. The porch light, which I can only assume is running on batteries, isn’t even bright enough to illuminate my approach, silent and full of vengeance.
“May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won’t.” – General George S. Patton
I came prepared with my pistol for close quarters combat, but decide to use my knife instead. It's quieter, stealthier and appropriately, more intimate. Once I knew these guys took Aly, I knew I wasn’t going to let them off easy. Especially these two. I saw them holding Aly down in the basement so they deserved special treatment. No, they needed to feel the pain of their sins as deep as my knife would cut.
I make sure to enlist just enough torture that could also fit into an extremely limited amount of time. I couldn’t risk giving the other two any more time with Aly. I approach the first one, who’sbeing a dumbass and looking into the truck but not behind him, and quickly slit his throat, cutting off any screams he might let out. I watch him as he falls to the ground, clutching his neck, trying in vain to stem the bleeding. Less than a few seconds later, I decide to move on. He doesn’t have much longer and will die soon enough.
The other one, watches from the other side of the truck cab. His face white with shock. “What the fuck is wrong with you, dude!” He says, before heaving up his guts and emptying his stomach onto the ground at his feet. Pity… he should be running, rather than puking. Too bad… So sad…I stalk around the truck, quickly. The need to catapult this guy’s ass to the depths of Hell is imminent.
“Revenge is a powerful motivator.” – Marcus Luttrell
He sees my boots in his periphery and tries to make a break for it. Unfortunately for him, he doesn’t get far at all, especially when I throw my knife at him, embedding it into his fleeing back.
Coward…
I bend down to his prone position in the mud when I get close enough, yanking my knife out of his back in one quick pull, before toeing his side and flipping him over. The bastard has the audacity to shield his face from me, blubbering snot and spit everywhere as he pleads for his insufficient life. “Please, man, we were just doing what we were told. She’s fine. No harm, no fowl. Please, I don’t want to die.”
The fucking insolence...
He shakes his head when I don’t back down, trying to deny what I’ve already seen and heard. I don’t have time for this shit, I have things I need to do, so I take the knife and stab right through his trachea, blood immediately welling up from the wound as well as his mouth as I swiftly remove it.
And that’s how I took the last of them down. Well, all except for this dick here. When I came to the stairs and sawhim aim his weapon at Aly, I knew I only had one option. That was two to the chest and one in the head. He deserved much worse, but I wasn’t about to endanger Aly any more than she already was.
She looks back to my eyes, awestruck. “You came.”
